Ovarian Cyst Complicated By Heart Murmur

Hi all, i'm looking for some advice ... I took all 4 of my piggies to the vets yesterday for a nail trim and while there had Flossie checked over by the vet as she has recently lost a lot of weight, has 2 bald patches either side of her body, crusty nipples and is being very sexually agreessive with the other piggies.

I had done some internet reading before we went and all of the symptons Flossie is presenting pointed to ovarian cysts, the vet agreed with this diagnosis as he could feel a lump, but, and this is the bad bit, he also diagnosed Flossie as having a heart murmur.

There are 2 options, either do nothing and see how Flossie fairs or put her under surgery where complications are more likely to occur because of the heart murmur. The vet advised against HRT as again, the heart murmur could cause complications with this.

At the moment, Flossie is quite happy, she's eating and drinking well and is annoying her playmates as much as ever with her playful nature ...

I'm at a loss as to what to do - I don't want to risk the surgery but then again I don't want Flossie to suffer by doing nothing.

Help ... :...

Many sows have ovarian cysts. The cysts can get quite large and not bother the pig in any way, occasionally the cysts will rupture spontaneously which helps to solve the problem or the cyst(s) can be drained, without the need for a general anaesthetic, Doing nothing is a good option.
I would wait, watch and do nothing. Above all neither worry nor panic nor be pressured into immediate treatment. It is not life threatening.
