My Tilly is four years old and has cysts on her ovaries about the size of golf balls on each side. The vet tried the hormone treatment but this was unsucessful and did not shrink the cysts.
They don't seem to bother her other then she has lost a lot of weight off her back, the vet seems to think this is because the cysts are taking up all the room, so no room for a big belly.
Anyway she is going to the vets tommorrow for her cysts syringed but I was just wondering if anybody has had this procedure done and if it worked?

I've not had this done - had a couple of old girls with cysts but they were no bother to them so they were left - the oldest got to 7 and a half years. I will be interested to know the outcome of your girl's treatment as I'm sure I will come across cysty girls again.

Best of luck.

They don't appear to hurt her but because they are so big they seem to be making her lose weight because she can't fit as much in her belly.
I have a really good vets so she should be ok, always a little nervous when they have to have anesthetic. Fingers crossed she will be ok.

My Noodles has recently been found to have two cysts, a similar size to Tilly's by the sound of it.

So far she is a good weight and we (my vet and I) are going to see if they get bigger or her behaviour changes/is limited before we decide where to go next. I am staying optimistic as this seems to be more and more common among sows these days (pet shop inbreeding? Who knows)

I am sorry to hear Tilly is losing weight with hers. I hope the syringing works.

A little update on Tilly. She went to the vets yesterday, it went really well and she was back to her normal self as soon as she got home.
They drained 10ml from her right side and 18ml from her left, this is quite a lot apparently. She has multiple cysts and the vet said that it is hard to say how long it will be before they fill up again, does anybody have any experience of this?

Just hope they don't fill up straight away then she can get some relief for a while.
