Hi everyone,

I’m just looking to see if anyone has gone through anything similar and what they did.

One of my girls (Penny) is around 4.5 and about 6 months ago the vet diagnosed her with ovarian cysts. I did not get her spayed - the vet advised she was not very healthy (too skinny) and that the survival rate was not great for her age. I also knew that if I had gotten her the surgery and she did make it, it was doubtful that she would recover. I had to get her sedated for a X-Ray and she stopped eating for two days - so I believe think she would not be able to handle that. The vet advised that I just spoil her rotten and make her as happy as possible until she’s ready to go.

I feel so much guilt for not getting the surgery but at the same time that I know my little girl and know that she wouldn’t have done well with it.

Today, I noticed that she has started crying when she’s peeing and she has had a lot of calcium in her pee. From my research I’ve read that the ovarian cysts and put pressure on her bladder and cause stones/sludge. I have contacted the vet to try to book an appointment to determine what it is. If she has a bladder stone, then I’m going to assume it’s her time. I do not want her to suffer at all. 😔

Just wondering if anyone has been through anything like this and I guess I also needed to vent a bit.

Thank you in advance. 😔

I am so sorry that you are going through all this.
I haven’t had the same experience as you but it is clear that you are making decisions based on your love for and knowledge of your piggy.
You have had vet advice and done everything possible.

A decision to pts may be the best decision but that doesn’t make it easy or mean we don’t feel guilty.
Anytime we have to let a piggy go it hurts.

We are here to support you.
Be gentle and kind to yourself
