Are there any Anti-Fungal treatments that you don't have to get at the vets and get get in pet stores? I live in the US.

Have you treated for mites? Self diagnosing and treating is not a great idea if you are not experienced as the wrong treatment can make the existing condition worse and lead to more suffering.

No, but it doesn't appear to be mites. My parents won't take her to the vet or let me take her :...

that does look like a possible mite patch, or ringworm, or fungal (other than ringworm), problem is it looks like a lot of things and that is why self diagnosing is a problem unless you have seen it before. Mites can be difficult to treat as they burrow down deep in the skin layers, and most of the info I have read a patch on the back is not a normal place, ringworm tends to be round the face according to what I have read (and experienced).

Have you checked for lice? You are looking for very small yellow/brown/orange flecks either part way up the hair or on the skin (if your lucky you will see these move too)

If you have not treated for mites I would say that is your fisrt act - mites are the most common cause of skin problems. Whether you use spot on treatments, shampoo or vet treatment you must complete a full course of treatment and also treat the housing/bedding too otherwise reinfestation will continue.

I'm very saddened to hear that no vet treatment will be sought for this little one.

This is a US based site so may have products that you can get more easily than those we use in the UK. The forum part has very experienced members who should be able to tell you which products work best.

Please try and persuade your parents to take this poor little guy to the vets, ask them if they were suffering from similar themselves, would they not get it treated. He/she can't speak for themselves to say this, your piggie must be very itchy if it is mites.:(

something to convince your parents - if your pig has ringworm this can be passed onto humans and other animals, it is very easily spread and can cause itchy dry skin which will spread over your entire body without the correct treatment.

Sorry to sound a bit harsh, but the pig needs veterinary treatment, and if your parents will not take the pig to the vets then you need to put it in the care of someone who will.
