Hi everyone
It’s been ridiculously hot here lately and I feel the guinea pigs have coped well. However today is 40c and tomorrow meant to be up to 43! Opal is flaked out most of the time, splayed out in the corner of their cage, she has been up eating, changing positions etc so I don’t think she is critical. I’m just so worried about them all. Mary is laying down a lot, but also still active, she is drinking heaps though, but she usually does anyway. Olive is also splayed out sometimes but not as much as opal and olive seems to wonder around a bit more eating and drinking.
Opal was concerning me so I now have her sanwhiched between to frozen food bags in a towel. She’s been in there about 20 minutes now and her underside seems much colder.
Everyone lives indoors but our cottage is pretty much a Tin house so it gets so hot and our aircon hardly does anything
I’ve got the fan going, all the blinds and curtains and windows are closed so doing everything I can. But even I’m sitting here sweating!
Is there anything else I can do? It’s 6pm now and still so hot but hopefully will cool down within the next few hours!
I think early tomorrow morning I’m going to move them over to my friends house for the day as there house stays cool! ( were on the same property, we live in there spare cottage)
