As you may have seen in another thread we brought the guineas an outside run and they love it but all we do is check on them,at first we would not leave the garden while they were out (the garden is safe) then we thought that was silly but all we do is go and see if they are OK.Do others leave their guineas out in the run?will we learn to relax in time :lol!:

We do the same! I used to with my piggies when I was a child but no way hose anymore. It probably doesn't help that we are surrounded by cats!

Mine only get allowed out into the run when we are home. It's around 4 hours an evening and then varies at the weekend but usually all day when we are home. They go back in the hutch for bed time at night. I only have a moveable metal Trixie run with a net over, perhaps if I had a proper timber framed run with cover then I would let them out during the day while at work but again I'd be really worried!

You do not sound over protective to me. You are just being careful. I would be the same if I had a garden.

Yesterday I checked them then came in while I nipped to the Loo and asked my husband to keep an eye. When I came down my husband was layed on the floor outside making sure one of them was in the tunnel as he could not see her from the kitchen window.:D

l mean when we are at home lol They are in the run for about two hours at a time as it is a tiny garden and we have two dogs so we keep the dogs in while guineas are out as one of our dogs is blind so would walk into the run

I don't think I can leave my lot alone for long as the neighbours have JRT's and one of those has been known to jump the fence on a number of occasions. Wouldn't trust one of them what so ever as they weren't bred for Ratting for nothing.

I'd be the same. I know some do leave their guinea's out during the day but I couldn't, not when I'm not home. We have two dogs too but they are kept an eye on and aren't allowed around the run unsupervised :)

That's another reason my other dog is a jack.
