I have two female guinea pigs they are 14 weeks old today, I just weighed them and my English crested weighs 700g and my Abyssinian weighs 800g does this sound too much for their age? They don't feel overweight but I'm not sure what to look for in terms of weight gain.
Also my Abyssinian, she only has 2 rosettes and a mixture of short and long hair does she sound like a cross?

Whilst they are still growing I wouldn't worry about them being overweight or not. They will do lots of changing and some pigs are just bigger than others. They need plenty to eat so don't consider limiting their food for a good few months until they are fully grown.
Keeping a record of their weight is useful though to make sure they are growing right and to watch for any illness which often shows as weight loss...

It sounds like your Abby girl is probably a cross and will end up with a funky hair do :) There's lots of mixed piggies out there and they are all just as cute as the res!

Aww thank you MerryPip, I have been weighing them once a week since I got them and the weight gain is steady, they just look quite big for their age! I don't limit their pellets/veg/hay as they only eat what they want.

She is super cute, she's all blonde/cream with a large rosette on her side and a small one on her bum with long hair going over all of them :)

A good rule of thumb regarding whether your pig is overweight is to try to feel their ribs; if you can feel them really well - underweight; if you can just feel them - just right; if you can't feel them at all - overweight. That said, MerryPip is right that when they are still growing, as long as they are putting on weight don't worry about it.

Thank you Elwickcavies, I will continue to monitor them as I am currently doing, just over thinking everything haha :)
