Looking around the pet shop today for something to stimulate Panda's appetite I found Oxbow Botanical hay, it's timothy with chamomile, lavender lemon balm and clover it smell delicious. Has anybodies piggies tried it. ? While I'm asking questions does anybody know of anything to encourage piggies to eat apart from metatone. Panda is recovering from a respiritory illness, shes eating but not as much as i would like, its almost like a human recovering from flu, not eating much sleeping lot and not much energy. Thanks.

I've been told that Oxbow Hay is the best you can buy, and it's what I get my piggies-they love it! I've not tried the botanical kind, but I'm pretty sure your pigs will love it considering that even the regular stuff is great!

Oxbow hay is amazing. My lot like Botanical although with so many I can't afford it all the time!

It's good stuff!

It smells nice, but it sends my hayfever crazy. The pigs ate it (obviously rolleyes ) but they preferred orchard grass in the taste test! :)) Orchard grass always wins :)

Critical Care might help. You can get it online at the hay experts. It's dried stuff that you mix with water. Cost me about £10 for a pouch a few months ago. My poorly piggie ate it well.
Good luck. I'm sure you'll bring piggie round to full health.

My boys also like the oxbow botanical hay and i buy it as a treat and put it in their hays racks, they normally empty the hay rack in a day, so the small bag doesn't go that far with my two boys appetite's for it! :))

I wish they sold it in bigger bags!

You could also try the alfalfa king timothy hay they sell it in p@h, its very green and my boys love that too. :) Worth a try as if they sold the alfalfa king timothy in bulk i would buy that instead of the oxbow, as it is really nice and green too just like oxbow hay and great quality.

We sell loads of the botanical hay and it does smell gorgeous. We buy it in bulk though and the smell when it first arrives really sets me off sneezing.

Oxbow Critical Care is great. I keep a pouch in for emergencies and syringe-feed it through a 2.5ml syringe with the tip cut-off, otherwise it just gets stuck in the syringe (if you cut the tip off, be careful not to let the end of the plunger go into the guinea-pig's mouth to prevent choking). (Just so you know, syringe-feeding is messy and time-consuming). Your vet may sell Critical Care if you don't want to buy it online. Syringes can be bought very cheaply off eBay (they're far more expensive from a vet's).
