I have been into Pets at Home today in Aylesford Kent, i was with the children and no intention to buy, but my kids came running over to me saying come look at this pig, well bless me at the back f the store they had the tinyest adoption section, in there where several rabbits and 1 single guinea who looked sssssoooo depressed that i had to ask it i could addopt her, on the notice it had that she had been given in because she is shy, well i remember when someone posted on here about this little girl approx three months ago about her being brought in because she was pregnant(any one remember her)well this is her, she just looked so sad.
But they said that a lady had been calling everyday and really wanted her, but she hadn't called today, I am cross but surly if i am in the store and want to addopt, well ha ho they have number and i may have a sad little girl to love soon, we can heal together

That store is close to us as well, I didn't realise they had an adoption centre in there, they have a vet thingie there don't they?

Why would this lady keep calling and not pick her up? Poor little sweetheart, I don't understand why they were waiting for someone who can't even make it into the branch ::)

today at four will drive to pick up hubby then straight onto the shop ys it is the one with the vets,
wow where do you live, i am on the sutton road by Police headquarters?

OMG! That is awful..Poor little thing..I work at Pets Corner in Maidstone..we often hear of the state of their animals..

how does the adoption thing work then? is it animals they have sold to wrong people etc

I think its like there for those family's that the novelty has worn of they have somewhere to leave them, but in there defense their animals are always clean and have fresh food and water, well it has always been so when i have been in store although i have herd some bad stories of some stores being a bit unclean,

We don't live in Maidstone, but in Chatham, but I know of the Aylesford branch, I usually pop in there to 'observe' now and then when we visit BHS or Homebase! (Small world!)

I'm not far from Chatham..very small world!

I went into the Sittingbourne one the other day and they had a gerbil with a huge scratch up its face and looked really ill

Have you seen the little Roviki hamster in the addoption section there its all on its own and it does not look happy, he has been in there for at least 5 weeks he was there before i went on holiday, wy do people do this, why can they not look into the animal before they buy it,

trouble is I cant leave them behind I have to take them home, luckily the last 3 times I have been in all the animals have been adopted

I really hope you get to adopt her O0 O0 O0 Got my fingers crossed!

She deserves a lovely home bless her. And as soon as possible! - she must be so lonely... :(

I'm not far from you guys either, just the other side of Maidstone and the in-laws live in Wigmore, Rainham - small world indeed.

I daren't look in the adoption area (luckily it wasn't open when I went to buy Carefresh last time), I would want to bring everyone home too!

the one in mansfield isnt too bad but I'm worried about the lack of space they have for the multiple piggies,, whats the proper size cage you should have for about 15 piggies..I'm sure their present area isnt large enough.

I haven't seen the Hamster, no, I haven't been in for a few weeks, like others, I daren't go near the adoption section!
This thread is like a Kent appreciation thread! nice to see other posters nearby :)

Oh no - I'm in Maidstone but I try to avoid PAH.

It was me who posted about the pregnant guinea (my boyfriend saw her when he was getting me a run) - hope you get her Piggybaker.

Keep us updated.

Oh my god i'm in Medway...We may all have walked past each other in the street before!

my local pets at home in bristol use to be clueless ! they kept rabbits in with guinea pigs , they dont now so people must of complained ! they actually have a vet practise in there and an adoption centre.

not sure if theyre completely clued up as i dont go in there much now.

one pet shop near me keeps guinea pigs underneath birds ! she even said they arent suppose to do that but they havent much space ::) :tickedoff: i was gobsmacked!

My sister is goint to Kent university lol...

Mine has a little adpotion section at the back too. It had a middle sized abby cross last time I went...so tempted by it and the little rex in the normal pen :smitten: ;)

I've never been to that one ? Did you know there is a new one in Ashford now?

I'm very near Kent (East Sussex border).

Back to the subject; poor piggie :(

she is beautiful, a complete fruit loop

Yippeeeee! Oh piggybaker I'm so chuffed for you! :D :D :D
Lol at 'complete fruit loop' ;D

Piccies purrr-leease! O0

soon got to get camra off her first will get tommorrow trust me this little girl needs to be seen

grrr i hate P@H the new adoption thing is just a marketing ploy to make them look like they care- they drive me nuts
The animals for adoption are either, ones which have been brought back, their breeders stock, or animals which theyve had to seperate due to fighting etc

I know someone who works for one with an adoption centre and she reckons its a good way of shifting stock.. she also said she can tell the customers any old sad story and they take them home! i couldnt believe what she was saying. She was going on about how it shows they care and makes them look good but really we just want to get rid of the animals we cant sell. :tickedoff:

well they said that she was brought back because she was shy but i knew she was the one that had been pregnant because when it was posted on here i shot straight over to get her and saw her and was told i could not take her because she had to give birth first, the assistants face dropped when i said that, it really was rather funny ;D
