Feeling really worried tonight.... as I was out of hutch cleaner went to my local p@H and noticed a large rabit and piggie together in a cage with a note explaining that they were both for sale but both did not get on with their own kind but were happy together >:(,after further questioning the manager told me that they just did not get on with others .He said he knew they shouldnt be together but they did get on,{they have others mixed in there!}They were the same price as the others, don"t know what to do ?,hated to see them separated from their own kind can"t really afford both anyway should I SPLIT THEM UP IF THEY GET ON?Will go back tomorrow but dont know what to do ,Help :-\

what probably happened is, he put them together with others of their kind, they start chasing and nipping for a bit, all normal and it would be settled in a day or so, but after that went on for an hour he decided that they apparently "dont get on with their own kind" or something like that...

petshops lack of knowledge makes me sad. youd think if you sell an animal, you should know your stuff about it... *sigh*

I would probably be tempted to get that piggy, just to save it from the fate of being sold with a rabbit, but I know I shouldnt support petshops really and give them my money...

but I am weak and piggies are cute, and if id see one in a situation like that, id probably snatch it away.

YES STEAL HIM! I hear stories about bunnies hurting piggies. They also eat different foods so shouldn't be together.

if my bunnies ever got with any of my piggies all hell would break loose! i would never kept a piggie and bunny together pah is a touchy subject with me so i dnt like talking about them as i end up going off on one x

the fact our pigs had lots of mites, the staff being idiots and knowing nothing and the rabbits being with the pigs and picking on them

See if you can get them to give you the pig. They practically paid me to take away my hamster they were so glad to see the back of her (apparently she was a biter).

Am goin to talk to manager again tonight.

let us know how you go on?

and if anyone wants to email them go for it and let rip ;)

My personal worry here would be that if you buy/take the guinea pig, they will simply pair another one up with the rabbit?
My gut feeling here is that they are playing the "sympathy card" and just want riid of the pair of them.
My guess being thay they have both outgrown the tiny cute stage and getting rather bigger :-\
Call me a cynic....

>:(there was a evil piggie there it beat up a rabbit lmao! ;D i was like go piggie  ;D there werent has many piggie has usual which was very strange and only one rabbit.. :-\ very very strange indeed

Feeling really down now,but in my heart of hearts I think I did the right thing!

Don't feel down I'm sure Malcolm is well happy that you came to his rescue-give him lots of cuddles and both of you will be fine :)

I bet there is a few on here that at some stage even if its years ago have brought a pet from a pet shop. Try and not feel too bad. Pic's would be nice!

Much as I detest these sort of situation etc etc I probably would have done the same thing. I have done 1 sympathy buy before -my female pig Emily.
When I left the CTT yesterday I needed the loo so decided to call into the Tesco near there & noticed the P@H opposite. So did a quick scout around. I was confused because they had the usual millions of rabbits & pigs together etc but there were 2 cages with gerbils saying "for adoption" these animals had names etc but P@H were charging for them. They also had gerbils in the usual set ups. Someone must have given them in to the store.
It wasn't as big as the Nottingham store so less products but a member of staff did ask if I needed any help or advice which was a shock! I heard him talking with some other customers & seemed to know his stuff. Was young male late teens early 20's with longish wavy dark hair if anyone goes in there & needs to talk to someone with a brain!

aww dont feel down I would have done the same thing I'm afraid I think of right now and what THAT pig needs and dont even go thinking but what ifs, that pig needed loving and you are going to be giving it, I hope he settles in well, why Malcolm? just a name not mentioned as a name for a piggy before,
PAH sounds a real s**t place and maybe an e mail of complaint and why you felt you had to buy the pig might go a little way towards getting them to see sense, doubt it , but might make you feel a little better, try suggesting to them that a guinea pig forum is on its back and wont let go until they start treating animals with a little respect, we will be complaining about every last thing they do wrong,
I am not looking forward to the Island getting one any day soon will be on their back from the start, start as I mean to go on I think,
