I went to wilkos to get some hay on sat and they hadn't got any :( The farm shop i usually use i have gone off too I was passing the P@H in Stafford so called in brought some Guinea mix and a bale of hay. Cleaned piggies out and the hay was rubbish :( it was dusty and looked like mowed grass dried I was umming and arring about taking it back but did eventually they were quite happy to replace it only the new bag wasn't much better. I dont want to take this one back too they'll think I'm being fussy

Yeah - I noticed this in the shop. On the bag it says 'short chop' hay, which isn't really suitable... not for eating anyway. I wouldn't buy hay from p@h, you can buy better stuff on line if you can't find any locally. Have you tried Pure Pastures hay? It's about 2.50 per bag, I'm fairly sure it's available country wide. It's just good quality long lengths of meadow hay.

It's the worst of the worst I'm afraid. I bought a bag in desperation about 18 months ago and it was mouldy - the staff member refused to believe me when I returned it until I made her stick her nose in it. Bleurgh xx0

I was desperate last week for Hay, Wilko's bags aren't big enough for my lot to be honest with 2 lavender lodges and a nero 3 I go through 2 bags of it a week. So I thought I'd try P@H again, had no trouble in the past but when I got it I realised it wasn't as good and it did smell a bit as well!

Thank god it wasn't just me I thought I was being too fussy. Yeah I buy wilkos hay 2 at a time as my lot get through it too. The good thing about it though is its usually on special, either 2 for £3 or by 2 get 1 free

Think I'll stick with Wilkos to be honest. I finished the last of the P@H Hay today and although they are slightly bigger bags if Wilkos have the offer on them I'm happy and I'd grab more! Plus Wilkos is only a 5 minute drive away from me P@H is 20 minutes away so I'd waste more in petrol! :)

I find all shop pre packed hay to be rubbish stuff to use to be honest. There is is the branded stuff that is slighlty better supreme is not bad shops own brand is really awfull.
I do like I mean the piggies the Burgess excel forage dried grass it always goes down a treat ;) they not keen on the herbage one only buy it now and again. For their bedding I use baled hay from a farm shop which smells divine.

I buy big bales of farm hay plus i sometimes get wilkos hay as its soo easy to pick out and chuck in and they love it :smitten:

lets face it u wouldnt eat something mouldy urself, so u never can be to fussy with your piggies, i think anyway... unfortunely p@h is really all ive got, so when i go in i poke out all the bags and inspect them till i find one I'm happy with... theres usually good stuff lurking in the back of the shelf... the staff r just used to me now and laugh.... 98) hehe!

;D ;D My piggys eat anything really but id never give them moudly stuff as i dont eat stuff thats just gone off by one day :D

i once tried this hay from P@H but it was yellow, and cut really short and just looked awful..

i buy the timothy with herbs, and the supa forage excell from them but their own brand hay is horrible!

I use wilkos and mine loves it and my rabbit does. I think all these name brands are just ripping people off . Mine are fussy they wont eat it if they dont like it. So I'm sticking with wilkos ! saves you pennies too ! :)

i buy the p@h own brand and timothy with herbs... mine lie on the timothy hay and eat the cheap stuff... :D

Have to say I bought P@H home and threw it away, it smelt was dusty and felt damp.

I buy meadow from a local nursery in a huge bag and it is great

I'm only young and a first time guinea pig owner, i have had my guineas for 2 weeks now and i have been using p@h hay all that time, and as i have no experience i cant tell if it is bad hay or not and i havent really for anything to compare it to, any sugestions?
