Well yesterday while in town with my boyfriend I went to P@H for the first time in god knows how long. I really needed some decent hay asap since I had ran out and my local small pet shop didn't have that good quality hay when I looked. So I walk in with my boyfriend saying it will just take 2 minutes. Go to look at the hay, pick out a couple of nice looking bags, and head for the counter. Well my boyfriend wanted to look at the chinchillas rolleyes. And then we get caught up and look at the other small animals like rats and gerbils. Then we saw the guinea pig enclosures. They all seemed pretty active and healthy and I saw a gorgeous white and cream coloured piggy scampering about (Although they didn't have signs saying which enclosure was male and which was female :S)
Then we to look at the rabbits, some nice little dutch and lionheads looking cute and stuff. But then I see the most gorgeous, biggest rabbit I have ever seen. He is in this enclosure all by himself looking too hot for comfort and lonely and I feel so sorry for him and wanted to take him home right that second :( He had these huge floppy ears and this sad expression on his face. I Felt so sad for him but unfortunately he was £80...My boyfriend loved him too and also noticed he looked quite sad too. He said if he had the money he would have gotten him for me to take home. We watched him for ages and I nearly felt like I was going to cry because he looked so sad. He was so huge and beautiful but here he was all lonely and bothered in a pet shop. I couldn't take him home and I had to leave him there 8... I might see if he is there next week with my boyfriend...

I SO understand. I can't afford pet shop prices for GPs, and with two boars I certainly can't afford to have a female around and have yet another separate GP cage, not to mention the fact that I have no one to care for the two I have when and if I travel, but at the pet shop in St. Louis where I bought my guinea pigs' feed and water bowls and timothy hay pellets there is a female guinea pig who is colored exactly like Red but has very tight, curly, fuzzy hair (a Rex, maybe?). The past 4 times I have been there she has been there, and her cagemates have been sold one by one, but she has still been there. I think she is beautiful, but all the other piggies were more colorful, more evenly patterned, and looked more traditionally like guinea pigs. I don't think she looked particularly sad, but I do hate to think that she would spend her life in a 18" x 40" enclosure, with very little fresh veg to eat.

If your big bunny LOOKS sad, he is probably becoming depressed or bored and definitely needs a family. I hate to think of caged animals becoming depressed and bored and neurotic. I sure hope the situation with this pet shop bunny works out somehow, and maybe you win the lottery or something.

Yes this is a thread. I think something messed up and it uploaded twice haha.

I know people will probably hate on me for wanting to take him home from P@H and make him happy but when you see a poor animal who you feel needs your help you can't just turn your feelings off can you :/
He was just so gorgeous and looked sad and lonely :( Maybe I could win the lottery and take him home with me lol if I wish hard enough

Dont worry I feel the same. Everytime I go into pets at home I just want to take all of the animals home! Is the rabbit you are asking about in the adoption zone?
Xx

No he was in the main selling part. Their adoption zone was quite full actually :/ but I saw a family come up and adopt an animal. I feel bad because I am wanting to buy from a pet store and the amount of times I hear and agree with how badly they can be kept. But he was just so amazing and he looked like he needed some love :(
