Dad got some pellets from petsathome, but he got the wrong type (I get Excel, the orange bag). Anyone use this? Ginny's been out of pellets for a few days, but if I give him in a different type I'm sure I'm supposed to change it slowly, mixed with the normal pellets. Thoughts?

Honest it's really good! I changed my baby noodle over to it and she was like a different piggy ! I won't be changing any of my 3's food! X

Oo interesting! Ginny does fairly nicely on the usual now, but I'll look into it.

In any case, it's telling unknowing owners to only feed vegetables rarely. If they just said fruit, I would've understood, but it doesn't specify vegetables are fed daily :( tempted to give a ring and ask about the packaging.

Don't listen to the back of that packet! You're right pigs mustn't have mineral licks and they need their vit c veg daily. I used to use these nuggets but changed to the one you normally use because they seemed better for them as they're not full of wheat? But honestly these nuggets are fine especially if you're on a budget

Thanks. I'm going to ring P@H about their packaging. I'll probably just get a sigh lol but I can't stand the idea of a guinea pig wheeking for daily veg and losing health from lack of vitamin c

I used to feed those quite a few years ago, but switched to Burgess pellets because I had heard much better things about it. The P@H pellets always varied batch to batch and they ended up some weird colours. Not to mention they smelled pretty bad. My piggies only tolerated them, unlike now, where they wheek their heads off for the Burgess. I never have any inconsistencies (apart from when they changed the nugget shape) and they look and smell a lot better to me.

I also now try and avoid buying from pet shops that don't sell live pets within their chain (not because they've understandably had their licence revoked), which includes Pets At Home, ruling out their nuggets for me.

The other concerning thing is they are oat and wheat based, rather than hay or grass based. From what I've heard, wheat should be avoided with guinea pigs. I don't know if that is true, but I think you would be better sticking with your normal pellets.

Mum went by there instead today as she went to B&Q as well. They said they will look into it, but "didn't seem to give a toss" as my mum said :( :hb:

In better news, Ginny tucked right into his usual lol, I had to get him out and he made sure to complain through excessive wheeking (until I gave him some lol)
