I was in p@h earlier buying some bedding. And got speaking to a family who were thinking of buying 2 guinea pigs. They were asking were they good as children's pets, are they easy to look after.
I turned into a guinea pig activist lol explained the work required to look after them, how the cage they sell wouldn't be big enough to keep them in long term. And to check this forum out to do some research first to see if piggies are truly for them and if they believe they are to look at adopting first.
The people who work at let's at home were giving me evils haha

When I first saw the thread I read the title of p@h as "pooh" obviously I am seriously in need of some more sleep lately!

Well done. I've done exactly the same in pet shops and at farms selling piggies. Youve made one family stop, think, do their research and prevent an impulse buy. That can only be a good thing.

I got my 2 from P@H and ended up with 5 as Velvet had a surprise shop litter! I took a hamster cage to the shop to transport them home in as they are less stressed if travelling together rather than being shoved in small boxes alone and frightened. I had my big indoor cage to put them in when I got them home. I also took a picture of the cage so that they would know that I was transferring them from the hamster cage to the big cage when I got home. They didn't want to see the picture of the big cage just took my word for it! I didn't get any info on how to look after them whatsoever as I told them I had had piggies in the past! Awful just awful. For all P@H knew my piggies could have lived their lives in a hamster cage in misery. As it is all 5 are now happily living together in a big double decker hutch outside and go out on the grass in the run (boys one day, girls the next so they don't ruin the grass) and are thoroughly spoilt and we all love them like crazy! Didn't know about rescues when I bought them I have been educated now.
