Went into pets at home to get my new hutch and i look at the animals like i always do and there was this rabbit. And its water bottle was really low and it had to bend its neck down to get the water.

Got the hutch and walked past and saw that it knocked it off the thing all together.I told the store peeps but then left.

Arent the water bottles ment to be slightly higher so they strech for it instead of having to bend there neck?

Thats one thing wrong with my local P@H the water bottles are always to low down.

Have you ever seen stores or people do this before and have you told them?

dont even get me started, me and my mum went yesterday, i wasnt going to post anything, but they had the pigs and rabbits together with no hay so my mum asked for the manager, who then said well the rspca came in the other week and they didnt care! then the manager went on to say well i dont see you complaining about the hamster cage which has 2 syrians on it (we didnt even see the cages) and my mum wouldnt leave until she saw the piggies and bunnys got hay :(

Warrington are pretty good, I told them a bunny had knocked it's bottle off. The guy put it straight back on and said thanks for letting him know.

iv hears qutie a few bad things that people go through with P@H but iv got to say that the one i go to is always fine never had no doubts about them ?

the staff is always happy and friendly to help you about anything i was considering on even geting a part time job there while at the college to see what really goes on in there but havent got the time to do tht with looking after my own animals lol ;D

Despite all the horror stories I've read on here about P@H, my local one is good. The staff are really knowledgable and helpful and the animal cages are spacious for each type of animal. The rabbits and pigs are seperate and the enclosures are massive. They are always clean and the animals have plenty of food, water and hay. And I've never seen any signs of neglect or illness with any of them.

That's just my personal experiences in the shop. I'm going on Wednesday to pick up the new cage and try to avoid the adoption part...think I'll just stand at the counter and wait for them to bring it...else I'll go home with something more than I went for!

from personal experience
we have 3 P@H in Norwich and they are all as different as can be!
Longwater are great for everything guinea big bags etc and other pet food!
Hall road ok Good for stuff
Sprowston ok usually ok for emergenncy smaller bits used to live less than 5 mins from here
my only gripe with all has been the animals in their we stopped getting any animal from them 3 years ago every one we've had has not been well
But i think its a personal thing and depends on each store

My P@H in Great Yarmouth is good.
All the pigs and buns are split up and most of the time have hay and pellets.

We don't have an adoption part in there! Do you think they might get one soon because its a huge one.
Oh and they sell netuered house buns.

The P@H in Swindon is really good (to the best of my knowledge) i've never seen any problems there. The pigs and the buns are separate and always have plenty of hay, pellets and water, and huge enclosures-they're so good that I want them! It must depend so much on the people who work in each store.

Um my p@h have been keeping 1 bun in with piggies too and it seems to be a different bun each time I give up I really do, they just dont care and even if you say some thing they really arent interested. These buns arent small either they are whoppers compared to the little piggies. Another sad thing about my p@h is there have been some pews in there for just over a month no one wants them they are getting big now so in some peoples eyes look less cute :'(

tbh i think it depends on the individual staff in the shops and how much an interest they have in the particular animals, fortunately the lady that works in ours loves pigs and bunnies and has loads of them living free range in her house so shes pretty clued up on everything.... the only problem is that they used to have rabbits in a run but split it in 4 for males-females-rabbits-pigs, the bottles are still at rabbit height which is a tiny bit too high for baby pigs, its not awful but they do have to stretch quite a bit..... at the end of the day i suppose u have to be lucky they rabbit had water at all.....
the manager was probably in a strop cos we're all starting to get more vocal about the living conditions!

I have been to four P@Hs near me, Aintree, St Helens, Southport and Warrington. All of them are great and the pigs and buns get veg in Aintree and st Helens. The only concern i've ever had with any of them is that i think Warrington had too many syrians in together once, even though they were babies they were still cramped, but its been fine since obviously they could improve space wise but other than that all my locals are fine :)

I went into my local P@H today and saw the piggys and they all looked well looked after, had plenty of hay and pellets, some really cute funnies in there also, the only thing that let the store down was half empty shelfs and a rude and abrupt cashier :tickedoff:

The one I go to in Edinburgh is always really good - piggies and rabbits separate, they always seem to have water, pellets and hay too. They don't usually have a lot of piggies or rabbits though - the minute they come in they're pretty much sold straight away. :)

i shop at the aintree store in liverpool and it is great,, i was there at feeding time once and bothe the piggys and bunnys got loads of veg,, they are seperated and have plenty of room,, the problem when i go is that i always want more piggies ;D

My local one is Taunton, Somerset.
Some of the advice they give is bum and I have stop customers who have brought pets and gave the the correct advice and point all new piggie owners in this direction hoping that they can get advice here.
The piggies and rabbits they sell are never together and the do have hay, water pellets and some times a sliced carrot, I have never seen any other veg.
At Christmas they boar piggies were over crowded hence my other half buying 2.
Not impressed with the way (Pippy now) Pig-Pog was kept.
The staff are not bad but do think they need educating, I do not like the way they try to get all piggies buyers to by their own P@H pellets.

It's what they are fed on in-store, so it's to stop people just taking piggies home (or an animal for that matter...bunnies especially!) and switching their diet to something completely different. It's stressful enough for them moving house without their tummies having to cope with a totally different food as well ;)

They said that to me. That they were currently being fed on the P@H nuggets but I could change it if I wanted, only to do it gradually over a couple of weeks. They're still on the P@H nuggets though, really because the shop is convenient for me to get to and that they like them!

Well, i do not think that is so, I think they do it because head office has told them too.
But when you get a piggy home you change its diet any way by introducing different vegs.

Yes, Head Office has told them to. And the reason why is as I have stated ;)

You change a small portion of it's diet by introducing new vegetables, but I would hope that as with anything, new veggies are introduced in small portions. But you certainly don't want to be changing their entire diet in one go.

Bear in mind that guinea pigs in P@H are also given veggies in-store, so veggies aren't a totally new thing for them ;)

There is no obligation to feed them on those pellets for life ;)

I agree with them about changing the food gradually. Some pigs are very sensitive to diet changes and you would never (or should never in my opinion) just give a baby pig a big bowl of veg its never had before, you do that gradually so why not the pellets? xx

My P@H are Fab! One day I said that one of the hermit crabs were in a painted shell and So they took out all the painted shells put in really nice one and Made the change of putting the hermit crab that was in the painted shell into a new one. All the piggies have hay and Seperated from the buns So are the males and Females. They have all the Syrian slitted up. All the Dwarfves splitted up. I love going in there but we don't buy food as it's more expensive as across the road (Local)

Apparently P@H nuggets are exactly the same as Supa Excel! So if you already feed that to your other pigs, I guess it would be Ok to feed it to a new P@H pig.

I changed from P@H nuggets to exel just before Christmas. Our P@H is too far. I didn't have a lot of P@H nuggets left but mixed what I had and they were fine. Different in shape is the exel but pigs love it. :)
