last night I sat and read the whole leaflet word for word and would you believe it was really quite good, even higlighting in bold and coloured writing that we recomend that adult guinea pigs are not kept with adult rabbits as fights can occasionally break out , but think it should have read any guinea pigs rather then adult, but apart from that and the use of woodshavings which I dont like everything looked rellay informative, only picked up the guinea pig one so maybe the rabbit one was similar,

I picked up the latest leaflet on piggies and it has changed so much. I guess it is informative in a good way :)

Thats great news - now they should make all the staff learn it off by heart

good to hear...
They should learn it word for word ;D

i grab all sorts of those leaflets when I go in 98)

I have found some of them are quite good

That's good to hear. The RSPCA website on the Animal Welfare Act gives guidelines about keeping different pets. The one about guinea-pigs refers to their tails! ::)

It says, Long-haired guinea pigs in particular may suffer from the potentially fatal disease flystrike, caused by flies laying eggs in soiled fur. Make sure the guinea pigs' home is cleaned every day and bedding changed regularly. Groom guinea pigs every day, checking their fur all over for any dirt, especially under the tail.

Good that they've obviously employed an expert to do the research (not). 98)

I wish the RSPCA could make petshops display the notice by their animals. I imagine it'd put most people off buying.

Lol - they probably used the rabbit one as a template, replacing 'long haired rabbit' with 'long haired guinea pig', but forgot about the tail issue ;D

had a good look today at my piggys much to their disgust and NO definatly no tail ;D ;D

I'd love to see the look on your face if there had been! ;D

Oh bloody hell, what monsters have we in the pet shop area :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:
The best thing is if we from here and any other forums continually give them a hard time and inform them that they are WRONG (sorry for yelling)
I hope any animals that go thru their system survive cause unless the slaves are savvy or do any research it's not good :(
This has made me real cross from now on i'm going to make a comment everytime i go near our petshops close by >:(

Eh? ?

The post was saying that the pet shop leaflet was a good one? Why the angry response?

Think there's crossed wires here. Probably my fault, I posted about the RSPCA website advice which says about the guinea pig's tail, it didn't refer to the PAH leaflet. :)
