I've got to say I'm really dissapointed in the PAH hay, I've found countless bits of old bin bags. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't think I'll bother using pets at home again.

I have been using PAH hay for almost a year now and have never had any problems?

It really is horrible. I wish I'd saved all the pieces, we've used less than a quarter of the bag and found about 10 pieces of black bin bag, some of which look like they've been in a fire!

We got a bag of P&H hay and I'm not impressed (neither were the piglets) - it seemed really dry and the piglets weren't eating it, just pulling it out of the mangers.

We've now got them sleeping on the dodgy hay and eating Timothy hay which they seem really, really happy with. At this rate they'll end up costing almost as much as the kids to feed!

I dont know then, but my hay has seemed fine and my piggies love eating it. They like it better than this timothy hay I got them.

it's horrible stuff in my opinion. i totally agree with your points. ours love the hay with herbs in! they're worth it x

Last time I went in P@H there own hay looked all bitty and sort of dusty like it was left over bits swept up and put in a bag, so I didn't buy it. Mine are eating a sleeping Timothy at the moment til I find a nice bedding hay. x

Started off on P @ H stuff, but soon changed, due to cost more than anything else. My boys are fans of good old Wilko's hay. They go through tons of it, never had a problem and they wheek with delight and popcorn when they hear the bag (still have loads of it in the racks, but there you go!). Shiny coats, healthy teeth, good appetites and proper poos. Seem fine to me!

I got mine online, maybe that makes a difference? I agree, it looks dusty as though it's been swept off a dirty floor. It's really hard too. I'll use the rest of this bag, but never again.

I think it's awful hay. I get mine local from a small shop £1.75 a bag which lasts a day its a big bag as well! Maybe try a local shop you'd be suprised how cheap hay is I think its expensive from P @ H.

I have my rabbits on Wilko Hay that is better. :)

Got mine some timothy from P@H once, and only once ..... they got mites from it! :(

Mine now have fresh hay from the local farmer - its lovely sweet smelling stuff that they go crazy over :))

I used to get the pets at home hay too, i agree it certainly seemed like a big bag of dust last time i bought some. Now i get the wagg meadow hay thats sold in asda. It seems much fresher and is'nt half as dusty and the piggies love it. :))

Only problem i'm having at the moment is some sticky flower heads in it. They look like dandelion heads but they have little hooks on and get stuck in the vetbed. Has anyone lese had this problem? I have to hand pick them off because even the washing machine doesnt loosen them :(

i had to use it the other day on my pigs as couldnt get to the dustfreehay i have and my two got lice, i will nevr use pet shop hay again.

emily,i think you're right. my oh wants us to use all our hay before we get new hay, but i'll be shampooing them weekly to get rid of nasties

I use P@H hay, to date ive never found anything in them and they hay has been nice and soft and dust free etc..

The only other local shop to me sells hay which is expensive and quite often damp and very dusty, i find having 6 piggies that the bigger packs of hay work out cheaper too.

thats the thing though, if its come from the hay, you will have to wash them weekly until used it all up. it is better in the long run to bin and start again.

mine eat p@h by the rack full, and i doubt it's nutritional value so i use, excel either herbage hay, or forage excel both of which they eat in less quantity, but i may start mixing it with hay from the supermarket

I use p@h hey quite a lot. Never had any issues with nasties in it or anything. Mine prefer it over the more expensive brands!

Ours wouldn't eat the stuff from p@h either and our chinchillas wouldn't entertain it in the slightest, it seems really dry and horrible.:(

We now get ours online from either pampered piggies or chinchillas2shop they have different sizes of bags and deliver really quickly. :)

tell my OH that, he says it's a waste else. once we get them in the big cage, maybe i'll line the cage with it and it'll all be gone quick

I've been using the P@h hay for a while & the last bale i got had orange twine in it I've found that the strands are very short compared to the Wilkinsons hay I buy from the other pet shop i use in St.helens My piggies tend to spread the P@h stuff all over thier fleeces.

why dont you use big amounts and emply daily so it goes really quickly!

I buy meadow hay in bags from the local pet shop - it smellls gorgeous and is really soft. It's £1.99 a bag and I buy about 3 or 4 bags a week.:)

I use the P@H hay for Laurent indoors for munching on (he's on towels) and the hamster she loves it! and big bale from local mill for the outdoor and they go wild over the stuff! the big bale costs about a fiver and lasts weeks

the P@H stuff we've had one bag of. it was really horrible. whe i was putting it into the hutch it would catch in my throat cause it was so dry and dusty, and if it was doing that to me i hate to think what it was doing to my boys.

I can get a massive bag which lasts maybe 10 days from our local pet shop for about £3 and its fresh and smells nice and they love it. local pet shops seem to be pretty good for things like that.

well, i emailed pat and the copy of my email is at the bottom of this post, and their reply is above in blue. i must say, at the point that i emailed last night i was so annoyed as i had found the biggest piece of old bin liner, I may not of been my usual polite self. x

Message: I've recieved a large bag of your hay. I must say I'm totally unsatisfied with the hay as it has countless pieces of old bin liners, some of which look like they've been in a fire. I wont be bothering with using pets at home again as I cannot trust the name. I cannot risk the health of my four guinea pigs by using your products. I thought it was only curtious to say
