Hi so this is kind of an emergency my girl guinea pig Bubbles who is one years of age seems to be doing a lot of high pitch squeaking but it's not the kind of squeaks she makes when shes hungry it's more like as if she's being bitten by another pig and in pain however she is just squeaking loudly to herself and when i take her out of the cage to calm her down she's fine i'm worried because obviously i don't want her to be in pain i thought i would just let you all know that August last year she had one baby ( an unexpected pregnancy ) i don't know if that helps i want to take her to the vets however my mum doesn't like taking my pigs to the vet as it is expensive even though i offer to pay she still says ill just ask my friends who have guinea pigs however they aren't vets . so this is pretty much my only option as i think i am too young to take my pigs to the vets myself ( i'm 14 ).

Any advice will do ,

Much Love

is it when she is urinating ? she may have a UTI which would need antibiotics xx

Does she hunch over when she does this? My pig with a poorly bladder used to hunch and squeak in pain.
Is there blood in her urine?

It sounds like she needs to be examined by a vet as it could be a pain squeak. Perhaps you could try asking your Mum if she qualifies for financial help with vet fees?

If you or your Mum cannot take her to the vet then please observe her very closely and make notes of what she is doing when it happens. Sometimes things are quite cheap to treat x

It is worth shopping around too with vets. Your Mum may have had the unfortunate experience of taking an animal to a really expensive vet who couldn't solve the problem. No vet can promise to solve the issue, but being ripped off in cost is indeed off-putting. There are however some well priced vets out there.
My new vet charges just £16 for the consultation, and I know these are not the only good-priced vets in the country, and if all your pig needs are medicines then your Mum may not end up paying much.

If it is recommended that your pig has scans or an x-ray this may amount to more of an expense, and it is then up to your Mum to discuss if there are any alternatives and what to do if she cannot afford the tests.

i'm going to ask my mum in the morning it's just the vet we go to is extremely good and they do a thorough check and we have been going to the same vets for over 25 years as well as that my cats go there and they are only a 3 minute car journey from us however i did take my guinea pig Pebbles to the vets as one of the guinea pigs had groomed her and bit her ear from over excitement and that was about £50 - £60 for the appointment there is a vets that is about 10 - 15 minutes from us however you don't book an appointment you just wait until there is a space free and it's very cheap and busy my friend waited 4 hours for a check up once . I am defiantly going to take my pig to the vet though as i'm concerned thankfully i can't see any blood in the cage

Thanks for replying as well
