Any suggestions, as i's a tad uncomfortable for her... I thought it was strange when she started darting around the cage, then jumping into the hay rack.. I got her out for a gentle cuddle (knowing she's got a sore bum) and she's not so much yelping, more grumbling through discomfort and darting forward at the same time.. She weighs 1.1lb I think?/

She's fine otherwise, eating like a trooper and drinking her probiotics (diluted in water bottle) just bathed her wound, and she'd had half an hour just relaxing, so think it's probably stinging more than anything else (if she knocks it).. I've set up an area on the floor, where she can run about and be safe from knocks, she seems content when out.. can I ask, is tea tree cream or germoline (with local anaesthetic ok for her? just thinking of whether germoline would do the trick?)

Nurofen is NOT ideal for guinea pigs and is for absolute emergencies. It is DEFINITELY not suitable for guinea pigs with open wounds. No, germoline is not suitable and you can't use tea tree on an open wound.

If you are worried you need to go back to the vet, get cream suitable for a guinea pig and an appropriate painkiller.

Ibuprofen is suitable for guinea pigs, its even in the exotic veterinary medicine formulary. But you can all make your own discisions and I'm not going to fight. If your worried about side effects then metacam can be just as bad if not worse on the kidneys and the guts.

Maybe just speak to your vet? As everyone is disagreeing.

Again, I would consult with your vet - personally, I would avoid using anything to keep the wound as dry as possible and keep her pen etc. as scrupulous as you can. Light coloured towels/fleece are nice for them to lie on and you will note any bleeding immediately. The Baytril should aid to minimise any infections, check for any redness/inflammation regularly.
Keep us updated with little one and send hugs x>>
