Junior Guinea Pig
Didn't think I'd have to post this for quite awhile, but here we are.
I just lost another pig, Charlotte, back in November.
I lost my heart, my special soul pig, Maisie, on Monday. She was the last of my 'first' piggy pair (her sister passed away in 2020 from gastric stasis/bloat).
Maisie had turned 5yrs old in December.
Suddenly on Saturday night, she developed an issue with her cecum area (it was swollen), she had no interest in food, & had some symptoms of bloat. Did all I could, with the vet, was prescribed antibiotics, Cisapride, gave her gas-x drops, syringe-fed her Critical Care & water, there were a few moments where she wanted to drink water herself & eat some hay, but she began to decline & eventually, passed peacefully Monday afternoon.
She left behind Ginger, who I had rescued back in October at about a month old, she is now 5mos old. Maisie was like a mother to her, she practically raised her. She has similar colors, so she could pass as her biological mother! She taught her so much, & they both copied each other too, Ginger kept Maisie young & playful.
She also left behind two piggies I got from old friends - Apple, another one of my piggies who's 6yrs old. & Gordon, he is about 6-7yrs old. They were all friends.
Ginger definitely misses Maisie the most, since she was like her mama. But Apple is taking good care of her.
Maisie was my special girl, & she knew it. She would always snuggle up on a blanket & watch Netflix with me, I loved cuddling/holding her, she was so sweet, so calm...if I took her outside, she'd just sit there & eat the grass. Never tried to run off. She also loved blankets & making 'forts' & she loved hiding under makeshift cardboard houses. She was truly the best piggie ever. She was so patient with baby Ginger, too. She loved when I talked to her, & she got so animated with me. She was definitely my special soul pig, & I was her 'person'. <3
The house is definitely empty, with one less guinea pig in it, but we are greiving & holding up best we can. Giving the 3 remaining extra lovings & cuddles, & playtime.
I put Maisie's blanket that she was wrapped in, in the cage for Ginger/Apple & she has been going in it. I know she smells her 'mama' Maisie. <3
Maisie & Maple (her sissy, the original pair!)

Maisie when she was young!

The girl loved to eat...she was such a pudge! <3
She loved being outside.

Maisie & Ginger:

Before she left this world...<3

The remaining 3, during playtime:

Rest in peace, my sweet Maisie...I love you so much. Miss you.
