I'm planning on painting my bedroom, which my guinea pigs live in, in the next week or so. The pigs are going to be out of the room in a playpen while I paint, but how long after the paint dries should the pigs be put back in the room? The paint shouldn't take more than a day to dry, but I'm worried about the paint fumes and what that might do to the pigs lungs.

There are low fume paints that are really good to use and they can dry quickly too. I used those when I was pregnant and painting the baby's room without any ill effects. I would just open a window after you are painting, if the weather allows (not sure what the temps are in Oregon right now). I would wait a day or two to bring them back in as long as it doesn't smell still.

I let my nose guide me - I'll have windows open while I paint, then once the smell has calmed down (usually about an hour after the paint dries, maybe) I'll shut the windows and bring the guinea pigs back. I've been doing a lot of painting lately and this approach seems to be working for us 😊

Thank you! 😁
