Hi All,

Any thoughts on what to do with Eccles. As you know Cuzzy passed to the rainbow bridge this morning and now Eccles is a lone pig. I am not ready to take on another one personally but this isn't about me. I would rather bond Eccles with a boar of a similar age and I was hoping the vets where I got Eccles from (his mum was abandoned there) will have his brother. I've been trying to ring them but it is just ringing out.

So should I just go ahead? Eccles isn't missing Cuzzy they were only together since last Saturday. But at the same time I don't want to replace Cuzzy but I don't want Eccles getting used to his own company and becoming the dominate one when he is paired up.

Or maybe I'm just thinking too much! 98)

I would keep trying the vets and see if his brother is still there, a few days shouldn`t make much difference. How old is Eccles now?
 
Hi Fiona,

Eccles is only 9 weeks, he seems fine, eating a little (obviously not like the bigger pigs as he is tiny), he is sleeping at the mo does that a lot in the day and is awake of a night. He used to cry for Cuzzy so I'm thinking he needs a pal especially of a night. I think I've answered my own question, but I guess it's good to think aloud! :)

Oooh I think he definitely needs a buddy. If you can't get his brother from the Vets then I think you'd be best getting an older or younger one as they do bond better. Good luck and Bless you 0:) O0
 
I am so sorry louise. You did everything you could for cuzzy. :'( I know you wont feel like it but if i was you i would get another pig for eccles rather than have him living on his own and trying to bond him with another boar in a few mths. Your not replacing cuzzy because all pigs are individuals and irrerpracable your just doing whats best for eccles Take care. (((( hugs )))) x

Hes so young, could he not be bonded with one of your existing piggies?

PP, I have two bonded boars at the mo and their relationship is up and down I wouldn't like to try him with them. If it was just Sunshine then yes he is very gentle but Twinkle is the guinea pig equivilant of Sponge Bob Square pants! >:D He wouldn't accept another pig not at the mo anyway.

I'll try for his brother or a similar one if they have one if not then I'll give bonding a good go with Beavis and Butthead!

Awww bless, well as long as you're happy you have done the best thing for him, thats all that matters O0
