Junior Guinea Pig
I am so sad to say that Panda took a sudden turn for the worst late last night and passed within hours. He was not showing any signs other than the crusty nose, which the vet said was nothing to worry about as of then. Last night his breathing was accompanied with a clicking sound. I separated him from Midnight, called the emergency vet, and she told me that six extra hours on antibiotics were not going to help him and to just go in this morning. When I woke up at 7 to call and make an appointment as soon as they opened after sleeping for only two hours because I was so worried about poor Panda, he had already passed. I do believe that he passed in peace. I took Midnight to the vet immediately this morning and he is now on antibiotics as a preventative. The vet told that due to Panda declining so rapidly, he probably would not have been able to pull through even if he had been on antibiotics. However, I feel as though I have learned an important lesson; not to wait to take my piggy to the vet. I have cleaned Midnight's cage thoroughly and I am going to clean and or throw away all of the toys, food bowls, etc. However, because Panda and Midnight were newly bonded, I am a bit worried about him. I would love some advice on what to look for in him as far as depression etc. due to the loss of his new friend, and if anybody thinks it will be a serious problem.
