Hi,
I got back from Christmas shopping and I have a brown paper primark bag, I have hear some people say that piggies like it if you cut the handles off and stuff it with Timothy hay. Is it ok for them to eat this paper bag? 1480443378399-1661284917.webp

I've given mine a Primark bag before with the handles cut off. They didn't really bother chewing the actual bag, they were just delighted that it was filled with fresh hay and rattled when they ran in and out of it. You could always give it them and supervise or remove the bag before you go to bed if you are worried. I took the bag out of the cage before I went to bed and let them have it again the next day for a little while :D

I'd have thought that you could probably just snip the handles so that they're not a closed loop, rather than needing to completely remove them.

Oreo and his cagemate (now passed) loved chewing up paper bags filled with forage. I have been to small animal events before with a Wood Green stand and they always give out forage bags.

The first thing mine do with paper bags is eat another opening in the bottom so they have the GPF recommended two openings. Eating a small amount of cardboard or brown paper won't hurt them. They created this fish themselves, it was quite a shock at the time.IMG_0507.webp

My 4 adore paper bags (handles either removed or just snipped in the middle so there is no loop for them to get caught in).
I stuff the bag with hay, and they will happily bounce in and out of it for ages.
Of course they also trample over the top, crush it down, and pee all over it, so it isn't a toy that lasts long in our house, but maybe your piggies will be more cultured than my little hooligans and treat their lovely present with more respect :))

Mine love paper bags filled with hay. They snuggle in them and fall asleep.

That's it.

Sigh. No nibbling them. No running about them. My lot snooze in them.

Lazy lot :)

I just put the bag, filled with hay in with my piggies, I came back five minutes later and tiggie and Bee are asleep in it
