I'm sure somebody said it was half price at the minute in p@h. if you couldnt afford vetbed at the minute you could try fleece? :)

If the pads aare dry,try massaging a little warm olive oil into them. Another thing I find very good is Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter. This is soothing and forms a barrier against urine scold .The product does not contain any parabens, sles,or cetyl alcohol which some of the GG products do,.

GG products only contain cetyl alcohol in 2 products, the conditioner and lotion. NOT Parabens or SLSs as stated.

Cetyl alcohol is derived from palm oil and used in emulsions for formation and stability, this is necessary in creams, butters, lotions etc. There are a few alternatives but those bases contain other nasties.

'All products are free from parabens, SLSs, artificial fragrances and colours.' copied from Waitrose site- nothing about Cetyl Alcohol, can you post a reference please Mary :) It will be on the jar too as it is law for all cosmetic products to state ingredients :)

Gorgeous Guineas state all their ingredients despite not being required to by law so that the individual can make an informed choice. They do not make their own bases (that contain the Cetyl alcohol, but have researched different ones.

Mary I have missed your point re Gorgeous Guineas products, please explain :)

Some of GG products do contain parabens and laureth sulphate. Not all GG products have the ingredients stated, the boxes of melts do not for instance.

The Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter contains: vanillin, olive oil and chamomile oil.

This is a product I have tried and tested over 2 years and I like it.

It is very difficult to get any shampoo,or cosmetic item that does not contain either parabens, sls, petroleum by products colourants, perfumes or other nasties.I just try and keep them to the minimum .

I didn't say the ingredients were on the packets Mary?

Can you please list the Bottom Butter Ingredients? What is the emulsifyer?

Mary: can you please let us know exactly what issues you have with the ingredients you list above? It would be useful if you could share the research and concerns that you have about these ingredients so that people on the forum can make an informed choice as to whether or not to use products containing them.

NONE of the Gorgeous Guineas range of products has EVER contained SLS or SLES, so I do not know why you think that they do / have. Most pet shampoos that cost £1.99 or £2.99 per bottle and are clear will be made with SLS as that is the cheapest / harshest form of detergent. Unfortunatley the majority do not have the ingredients listed, so who knows what really goes into them or what you are putting on your pet's skin?

Cetyl Alcohol is used to help emulsify oil and water in creams / lotions / conditioners etc. As Karen correctly says it is derived from Palm Oil and is used in the majority of skincare products that are available for humans.

When current stocks of Gorgeous Guineas Aloe Vera and Conditioner run out, there is new stock available which does not contain Parabens. These are currently the only two products that contain Parabens as the Lotion base was replaced with a non-Paraben one last week. After that, NONE of the Gorgeous Guineas products will contain Parabens as preservatives. There is a lot of mis-information around about Parabens, so here are a couple of useful links for people to read if they are interested in finding out more:

Paraben Risks?

There is no legal requirement for pet products to have their ingredients listed, so if I didn't list my ingredients listed, nobody would have any idea what went into them. As as I have nothing to hide in terms of what goes into the Gorgeous Guineas products, they all have the ingredients on the packaging, including Melts (as of the middle of January).

As a matter of interest Mary, can you please share with us what products you use on your own hair and that of your guineas that doesn't contain any of the ingredients that you are concerned about?

omg that well scared me then i thought somebody hacked into my account. how come my post was spilt into this? i look like a random weirdo now ;D

Yea you do! Like you just started talking randomly!

I'm worried-what are parabens?

Not on topic sorry but I really thought I had lost the plot for a minute there.

Gorgeous Guineas have referenced a link to Parabens and sls sles etc, go and have a read of the sites and make up your own mind :)
