Paralysis in 2 year old

She’s so happy and cheeky ! Nudging me . Shes next to her friends too … I may in a month consider mixing but my boar is quite big ! So I’m not too sure x

Do u think it’s progress ?
Certainly sounds like it to me!

First time I've looked back at your thread for a long time.

I had a paralysed piggie once too. Long time ago now. Must've been Babe and she would've been at least 4yo, probably more though. It suddenly came on. My vet checked her eyes and a few other things and said it had been a stroke. Babe didn't seem to be in any pain, so I could wait it out with her and see what happened. Possibly a vet would do something different now - it must've been about 20 years ago. Anyway, Babe could eat by herself and poo and everything. I picked her up and moved her around her cage so she didn't lie in the wet. I sometimes had her in the garden too with her piggie friend - I had no reason to separate the two sows. It was over the summer, I do remember that. I cancelled a holiday to visit a friend, to his consternation - he couldn't imagine needing to stay home because of an ill guinea pig! Babe slept a lot, I think it went on for weeks, and then at some point she could move again and she even got back to normal. Running around and all the rest of it. I don't remember now if she got mostly better all of a sudden.

I know your piggie is paralysed for a different reason, but wanted to tell you this to maybe give you some hope. Although the signs your own piggie is giving you are hopeful too:)🤗

Aww thank u so much ..xx
It’s weird because she flicks and kicks her legs .. but then drags them .. I think she’s a bit sore still .. I’m going to do gentle physio still and see . She’s so happy too xx thanks again x

Hi

It's most definitely an improvement that she is able to attempt specific natural movements like scratching. :yahoo:

Wonderful! Definitely lots of hope. Your guinea is a little fighter, not giving up, no way.
