I didn't want to post this in Health and Illness because I'm not sure there is anything to post about.

Putt our 5yr old piggie who has a ovarian cyst and enlarged Bladder lining has lost 65g over past 2 days. She is down to her lowest ever recorded weight at 1.115 grams.
Last night we weighed her at lap time and saw she had lost 50g we put this down to her not eating her celery leaves (as she can be fussy) we fed her carrot tops instead and she went up 15g. Today we decided to feed her parsley (as a one off due to her bladder probs) as we were concerned about her previous day weight loss, she ate it fine and a fair bit of her other tea but is down in weight again(10grams from last night) Apart from this she is her normal happy self.

We are both thinking about a vets visit tomorrow, I know we are both paranoid over Putt's health due to everything thats happened with her this year.
I feel concerned over her cyst and think that maybe it may be having something to do with it but I am also conscious of yet another trip to the vets stressing her out as we have to go every other week for an injection for her bladder.

Sorry for rambling on - just don't really know what to do? If she lost weight again tomorrow - i'd definately be taking her, I don't want to take her for nothing as she has no other illness symptoms but I know weight loss can mean trouble...

I would take her to the vet as 65 grams is more than 2 ounces. Paranoia is a wonderful yet expensive pass-time. :).

That made me laugh! Sometime's I feel like we've lived at the vets since January... I think we'll have to go otherwise I'll never rest, she is the most important thing to me and I can't take a chance.

So true! My vets see me coming, and I'm sure the money signs light up in their eyes :))

I really hope Putt's okay :( it's sooo worrying, and you don't know whether you are over reacting, or there is actually a problem ?/ I guess though we have our instincts and they are right 99% of the time :) Good luck Putt!xox

I live at my vets too - we're going tomorrow with yet another pig but for me peace of mind is everything.

As I say to my Vet I would never forgive myself if something was wrong and I failed to go and God forbid they died, I'd never get over it.

Thank you both.

Carrot & Parsnip - I know what you mean about just 'knowing' something may be up, instinct is a strange thing.

Flintstones - I hope the vet visit goes well for you tomorrow and your piggie.
