Took four year old boar Parkin to the vets today, as I wasn't happy with him. He's had a bit of a crusty eye, and is getting lethargic. Nothing specific that I can detect, but I know that watery eyes can be a sign of respiratory problems and also of heart issues. Got a funny look when I said I thought it was heart or URI and could they check him out. Good news - his heart is beating just fine (very fast though, so a bit difficult to tell), but his lungs were a bit more difficult to hear. He sneezed on cue, all over a poor vet student (he poo'd on another one and wee'd on a third - so I reckon this one was lucky). So we have now got meta.cam, bay.tril, zan.tac and pro.biotic for him to try and clear it up. Hopefully caught it early enough that it won't turn into pneumonia, but definitely something I could have done without today. If that doesn't work, he'll get a heart consultation and an xray but that's now less likely. I think the sneezing clinched it!

Moral of the story - don't be afraid to bother vets. I refused to feel a bit of a fool traipsing into the vet, and a good job I did take him.

Hope Parkin gets well soon x Always trust piggie intuition!
