She's home - Jeff is being the doting huspig as always, she's got a few medications and things to have, so I've drawn up a chart so I don't forget anything at 3am mallethead

Fingers crossed she perks up at home - for my sleep requirements if nothing else!

Great she's home - its such a toss up between missing them like crazy and not being able to check them every five minutes or getting some sleep!

I have our '3-hourly itinerary' written up and stuck to the fridge door!

I'm sure you know exactly what you're doing but I've noticed that if I waggle food in front of Peggy's face quite violently she eventually grabs it and sometimes eat it! Perhaps just to make the waggling stop!

All the best of luck x

Cameo just sits on a towel next to me, I syringe feed her slowly and she has a selection of hay and veg that's within reach - she's just decided to go for the lettuce. It's like the syringe feeding gets her appetite going a bit

I definitely agree that syringe feeding seems to get them started - what that nurse said about them not eating on their own if they're syringe fed is rubbish.

I think its like when you don't think you're hungry, but when you start eating and realise you actually are!

It sounds like Cameo's being a lot more cooperative than Peggy - she still seems sleepy so I think the waggling food thing works for her as it keeps her awake and engaged! In between syringes of course.

Lots of luck xx

Yep, that's looks very familiar - you didn't take a picture of the floor though - if its anything like ours there's more hay on the floor and up the stairs than there is on the towel!

Oh I am so pleased she is home now and even starting to eat. Wonderful news. :)

Well, we've moved on from eating just lettuce, to eating lettuce and nibbling some cabbage - I think that's progress!

On behalf of Cameo and myself, thanks for all the support guys :))

Yay Cameo well done and you are such a pretty little piggie, no wonder Jeff loves you so much xoxo

I'm so glad cameo is doing better! Ive been carefully following this thread with my fingers crossed

(on the neutering note, i agree that for you neutering makes sense with all your knowledge, however i dont think any vet should advise it to be "routine" given some of the people we know own piggies! (not anyone on the forum ofcourse) Caring for a piggy after an operation is stressfull and time consuming, not to mention needing to know how to syringe feed)

But i think your doing a wonderfull job, and cant wait to see pictures of her back to popcorning with Jeff. :)

Well...she's back at the vets again :(

It seems that everytime she comes home, she stops pooing and I think it's because the metaclopromide wears off. She's been dosed up and I've decided to leave her here over night as it's easier to monitor her poos without jeff around. I'm working here all weekend too so she'd have to come in with me tomorrow anyway as she's still being syringe fed. Just giving her a syringe feed now before I go home for an early night!

Is she also on zantac?

Happy to talk if you PM me for my phone number

xx

So sorry Amanda. I really, really know how you're feeling. They're like 2 peas in a pod aren't they?. I'll be thinking of you and Cameo. Remember she's picked up before and can do it again. One of these days, they're both going to pick up and stay like that. Lots of love x

I'm not too worried - she's maintaining weight well at around 1000g, she's taking the syringe feeding well, it's just the antibiotics that are knocking her about I think. Also going to get her xrayed tomorrow just to rule out bladder stones for my peace of mind really!

Going to take the Jeffer in tomorrow to keep her company :))

After some metaclopromide she's pooing again apparently - small, but they're still coming out!

That's great. We're going to have two druggie pigs on our hands at the end of this :)

Still sending healing vibes Cameos way....bless her. She's been through it the past few days. Really hope shes back to her normal piggy self soon x

She's herself behaviour wise, back to wheeking away and playing with jeffy, it's just the antibiotics messing with her gut

Ginny and Saffy are sending lots of special healing wheeks to the very beautiful Cameo. We all hope she'll be safely home with Jeff and on the mend very, very soon.

Gemma, Ginny and Saffy xx

I am so sorry to hear that Cameo's problems are still ongoing!

How is Cameo doing today?

Hope that she's having a better day today x

She seems much brighter today - there are poos, small, funny shaped poos, but poos none the less! She's still being syringe fed and only eating lettuce by herself, but she's starting to show an interest in hay so hoping she's going to start eating hay again soon!

The blood in her urine seems to have ceased, so she's now off the baytril, so hopefully her guts will start working again and her appetite will come back!

She was also xrayed today and good news - no bladder stones!

Jeff has gone to stay with her tonight, she's much happier having him there with her! She'll probably be coming back home with me tomorrow after work if she continues this well

So glad to hear the progress. Just a thought... when Peggy first started eating hay she wanted those furry grass seed bits on the top and also the very flat green bits x

That's great! Hope she continues to improve and will be safely home with you soon x>>
