thought i'd start a new thread about patch, who was diagnosed with a dodgy heart and has odema (sp?) hes on lasix for his heart, hes also got an upset tum (again) so ive given him some loperamide hydrochloride for his runny bum and also a buscopan tablet (don't worry I'm in contact with rodentologist/vet) hes also off the veg and has only got hay and pellets to eat, and he has vetark pro C probiotic in his water (which he has been drinking alot) he also had some spurs on his back teeth which were trimmed on monday evening. hes also on metatone as he was slightly anaemic (sp?) i feel sorry for the poor fella :( he is off to stay with the rodentologist this evening as I'm going away for the new year

sorry to hear about Patch, I had a piggie with a heart problem and he certainly took some care and attention.

Best wishes for you and Patch x

I'm very sorry to hear about patch. He sounds like a very unlucky little piggy :(

Maybe he and Biscuit (one of our boars) could meet up and swap vet stories...

I know it's horrible when you've got a piggy with a chronic condition and heart conditions seem relatively common among piggies these days. I can only say to keep your chin up. I read a hell of a lot about heart conditions because we feared Biscuit might have a heart issue. Everything I read suggests that, although incurable, most heart issues are manageable and piggies can have a good quality of life with the right treatment.

It certainly sounds like you are taking the right steps and doing everything you can and I'm positive you will see the affects soon. I will keep everything crossed for you and you little piggy.

x

thank you both :) hes settled in well at the rodentologists and has stuffed his face non stop since last night and he looks a bit brighter, so fingers crossed he'll be ok :)

aww I'm sorry hun! my PEW Basil passed at half 6 tonite to :( he has heart/lung problems x

Oh hun, I'm so sorry for your loss :(. At least you can rest in the knowledge that he is no longer going to feel any pain.

RIP Patch :rose, run free at the bridge
