March 2013-July 2022
Patch came to us as a tiny 10 week old and very quickly stole our hearts, a place on the sofa and in front of the fire place whenever he came indoors. He was more dog than rabbit, loving nothing more than following us around, demanding snuggles and shredding newspaper! He knew the routine and hated if we deviated from it! He had my youngest daughter totally wrapped around his little paws!
In February this year, just before his 9th birthday and after a life of good health, his age started to catch up with him with the start of sight loss and arthritis. His decline gained pace after a couple of months and the vet said we didn’t have long left before his quality of life would be in question.
Knowing his time was coming meant we were determined to make his last few weeks special. He had two more weeks of love, grass and treats before I had to make the decision that it was the right time for him to go while he was still as comfortable as he could be. He spent his last day in the sun.
We have made a memorial for him, with an engraved plaque on its way, taking pride of place in a seating area.
Losing him has left a huge hole in all our hearts and home and we will miss him so much.
Sleep tight my lovely boy
