So the girls have been to the vets for their twice yearly wellness check up, both passed as healthy but OMG I hate taking them to the vet's. Coco is always a perfect angel and just lets the vet do whatever to her and just looks cute although it's more she's so scared she can't move, poor Coco is very anti-social and doesn't like people and a lot of man handling but she's a sook at the vet and needs mummy cuddles after. Patchy on the other hand was a complete terror like she was possessed, like the guinea pig version of The Exorcist but with wee (on me of course) and blood (cut cuticle, not by me but also on me) instead of green vom. I never realized how strong a tiny guinea pig can be until I met Patchy and her massive tantrums at the vet when she's struggling to get out of the vet's grasp and try her usual suicide leap off the table while she's being weighed. I will normally suggest I hold her as she will usually just wiggle for me but calm down enough for usual vet to look her over and look at her teeth but today we had a different vet who doesn't know Patchy and she was of the opinion that nothing that cute could possibly be that naughty until Miss Patchy started up and the vet was only to happy for me to hold her (Patchy) while she examined her. I don't think Patchy liked her as she was waaaay more upset than usual and ended up getting her cuticle cut with all the wriggling around and I ended up with scratches all up my arm and my finger getting nibbled on by a angry guinea pig. Apparently this vet hasn't treated guinea pigs very often and I doubt after Patchy she'll ever want to again. Over all I think I ended up the most traumatized (and embarrassed) and I am still getting the side ways stink eye from Patchy.

Oh dear! Could it be that the vet had been handling a dog or cat beforehand and that is all that Patchy could smell and she was trying to get away from a predator in fear of her life? Either that or she just hates the vet!

Sounds like you needed a nice cold drink after that. Some piggies just get very stressed at the vets. I’m sure she’ll forgive you in time.

There was a dog in there before us but she just really hates the vet. She was getting used to their usual vet and had stopped trying to leap off the table but she'd still thrash around like a lunatic. I've noticed that these two don't like change very much and don't like being touched by strangers but normally she's pretty friendly when we have new visitors come to the house and comes out of her hidey for all the attention and praise, she's a massive attention seeker but she has to feel safe in her cage first. Visitor's generally don't put thermometers in her butt and poke and prod her everywhere mind you, I think she draws the line at that sort of attention lol.

I feel stressed when I have to go to the doctors too so she's not alone there. I'm sure when her breakfast is served up tomorrow morning we'll be besties again lol.

As predicted Miss Grumpy Bum has forgiven me once I put a pile of lettuce in front of her this morning, she likes to think it was all for her but it was for Coco too. How quickly they forget when food is involved or she might have some short term memory issues now she is the big 3 years old :yikes::yikes:
