Last night Patrick got me in a right state so much so I called the Vets who thankfully where still opened. As he was still urinating it wasn't an emergency, with Boys you have to be so careful as a stone can get lodged in the penis.

Milo was recently treated for a UTI, I still had medicines and under my vet's instructions I gave him ABS and Metacam to relieve the pain.

This was Patrick last night - it was heartbreaking. At the end I even let out a Gasp. It was very difficult to listen and watch.

Patrick has Crystal formation in the bladder. He was last Xrayed 6 weeks ago and was stone free.

Later on he calmed down - I had arranged if he wasn't better to drop him off first thing at the vet's however I got up this morning and he wasn't making so much of a squeak.

I do wonder if he passed something, and that was the problem. He is running about his cage mad tonight with a healthy appetite madness!

Been there myself! I woke up one morning and could hear Baby squeeking whilst I was in the shower! Constant squeeking with the yelps but she was contorting in pain as well. Luckily this was in the morning for me so I didn't have to wait long to get an appointment.

I hope they get to the bottom of it. Now that she's been spayed Baby has recovered and thankfully no more squeeking but with boys you don't have that option!

Good luck

He had blood in his urine yesterday - UTI or crystals I imagine. Patrick is turning into an old man - although I don't like to think about it.

Think we're going to pay Uncle Vet a visit as he's still letting out little squeaks and I don't have enough Abs. Pigs are so costly! :x

Poor little mite :-( I've had blood in urine with 3 out of the 4 pigs I've had (boars and girls). With my boar he had recurrent blood in his urine on and off for 18 months sometime accompanied by pain (not as bad as your little guy) and sometimes not. It wasn't until he was anaesthestised for dental problems that they confirmed he had tiny little stones but without a very invasive procedure to scrape out his bladder it was something I was advised to manage.

Patrick also says: Wheek wheek slave...serves you right for trying to rehome us the other day. Us piggies have a sense of humour too you know! Tee hee wheek!

Hugs Jo..really glad to hear is OK today and hope it was just a small piece of grit that e hs passed.

Patrick....you be good for your mummy please.......

Last night was the worse Patrick has ever been - I have another Girl with a stone although you wouldn't know it. She's a trooper, it's so small the vet prefers the idea of flushing it out which we are trying to do.

Patrick was confirmed with Crystal formation a while back - good job he has Auntie Pebbles and Auntie Suzy to at least keep his mum sane not to mention a very good vet. Oh and then there's Alex, Sue, Nik and Debbie. One thing I love about this forum is the support network.

I think I would have fell a part by now - without this forum.

I've had my fair share of illnesses I'm looking forward to healthy piggies!

Me too! I keep looking at my other one Daisy thinking 'don't you dare get ill!'

In the last year I must have spent in excess of £500 on vet bills for 2 pigs. I'm one of those people who hang around at pets at home when people are impulsively buying pigs and give them lectures about the responsibility of caring for them. However I don't begrudge a penny of it: Baby seems happier than she's been for some time and I would have spent this twice over if vets could have got to the bottom of my Spike's problem and saved him.

Just out of interest though what has been recommended to 'flush' them out?

Just lots of Liquids - Wilma has a 'tiny' stone I can feel it when checking for bumps etc - I do suspect she had another one that she passed a while back.

I syringe feed my bladder pigs addition Liquids and Cranberry juice.

Oh Vet bills, since January this year I've spent well over £500 on numerous problems. Bette I lost in November cost me over £300 alone!

Anyone who thinks pigs are hardy should meet mine :)).

I'm glad other people are as crazy as me! :))

My mum thinks I'm mad despite the fact she's an animal lover herself! These were actually her pigs originally and I do wonder where Baby would be now if she hadn't come to 'hyperchondriac' me!

Pigs can deteriorate so quickly so I go to the vets as quickly as reasonably possible. Doesn't help my bank balance but gives me peace of mind!

Poor boy! If it returns, he may have a stone. Otherwise, It could well be he passed a small one, considering that he is having crystals - some can be rather sharp! Stones can form quite quickly.
Perhaps you may want to discuss using cystease with your vet? It is a bladder lining food supplement for cats and it really can protect the bladder walls against irritation from crystals. My Nerys has been on it for a year now.

Sending poor Patrick my vibes!

Aww Patrick, poor boy, it must be so horrible for them, they just must not know what to do with themselves when they're in this much pain. Luckily they have a good slave looking out for them! Sending healing vibes to Patrick...get well soon little fellow!
