Gorgeous Patrick has a round, pea size lump in the crook of his back. I will be phoning the vets first thing tomorrow and get it checked out.

He’s fine in himself and is still gaining weight.

He’s always had an itchy patch on his back. He’s had mites and lice at least three times and he’s not even 1 yet! Maybe he’s bitten himself.

I gave him a brush recently as he had lots of seed heads in his fur and I didn’t notice it then. Maybe I caused it by the brushing? Or maybe a seed head has caused it?

Anyway off he goes tomorrow. Hopefully it’s nothing sinister 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Picture, just because ☺️

Poor Patrick hope it's nothing much and easy to treat.
Both Brillo and Duck have slightly bigger than pea sized lumps on their backs. The vet said they are cysts and to leave alone unless they get bigger.

Poor Patrick!
Tessy who was also a gorgeous teddy had a lump on the back at about the same age. Hers was a tumor that was operated and she lived to the fine old age of 6.5 years without any other troubles except for reaccuring fur loss where the lump was. Unfortunately, teddys are prone to skin issues.
I hope it's nothing sinister in Patrick's case.

It’s a cyst. Phew.

The vet gave it a good feel and then apologised that she would have to put a needle in it to see what came out.

Well nothing came out into the syringe so she gave it a good squeeze and thick, sticky grey stuff oozed out. A bit like toothpaste.

She said just to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t become too large, bursts or becomes painful. Then a small operation will be needed to take the capsule out.

That was a good outcome. And only cost me £30.

Patrick was a very good boy and didn’t make a sound when the needle went in.

He’s also been checked for lice and none were found.

He was 1465 when weighed. 😳. What a chonky boy.

That’s great news ! I’m so pleased for you both. Dear Patrick what a good boy 🥰

No. She got some of it out but said just keep an eye on it for now.

If the cyst had grey (not smelly) stuff in it, then it's probably a sebaceous cyst. These are common in piggies and in my experience don't usually cause any problems. If they grow they can be removed.
Thanks Yvonne. That’s very reassuring 😘

My cat has had a sebaceous cyst for years. Not sure if it's the same for piggies but it's never grown. Sometimes it disappears then reappears but always the same size. It doesn't bother him at all.

Wishing the little guy the best.
