One of my piggies has had an xray done without any anaesthetic so it can be done, our vets just used sandbags to keep her in place.

Poor little thing, let us know how he get's on on Monday x

The vet has agreed to do it without GA :).

Oh thats good. Lets hope they can find whats wrong and its nothing serious. Best of luck to you and poor Patrick.

Best wishes for Patrick and hugs for you Joanne!
xx

Poor Patrick. My vet wanted to use GA for mimsis x-rays but I said no. They managed fine with GA. Mimsi was as good as gold. They put a weight around him to keep him still. Were you given any pain relief for Patrick in the meantime? Calpol may help, this is what I give Mimsi when he has his bladder troubles. BEst of luck on monday...

He is only in noticable pain sometimes, and there hasn't been any sign of pain other than when the vet tried to feel his bladder and Thursday night. He hasn't been giving any pain killers but if his appetite decreases and he is in pain I do have metacam.

I had a chat today with my vet about Athena and her ongoing health issues and we both agreed that the metacam seemed to be more effective then antibiotics for keeping her condition under control as she too has bladder issues. He's now gave us metacam to keep her on to keep the symptoms at bay. She never made any noise indicating she was in pain, even when she was passing blood, but obviously she must have been in pain. With the metacam being an anti-inflammatory as well as a pain relief it might be worth considering putting him on it, or discussing it with your vet when you go ( depending on the outcome of the x-ray of course )

Patrick and Pebbles are at the vets today, I have to phone at 1 and depending on the outcome I will discust the next step with the vet :). xx

I hope the x-ray comes back clear (well, I hope it rules out stones and in turn leads to new diagnosis/treatment ideas). Glad Patrick has company, it will help. :)

Me too Laura, and if it is a case of a stubborn UTI, or inflamed bladder I will speak to vet about using Metacam too help with the pain and inflamed bladder.

Pebbles wasn't so happy :))! They have enough to do them all day and I did stress NO GA. Here's hoping x

Too be fair I hope theres nothing wrong and it's just me being paranoid! :x

Keeping my fingers crossed its not stones and hoping IF there is anything wrong it's easily treatable xx

I have to pick Patrick up at 3.10pm!

The vet isn't in, just now but I have an appointment booked for 3.10, for the vet to go over everything with me. They couldn't tell me anything on the phone?

They had already pre-booked the appointment for me?

My vets the same - if the vet isnt in to tell you personally they dont say anything ... I think they dont like the receptionists to be put on the spot .... but it just leaves you worrying for a bit longer.... soon be 3.10 though - hope its good news
x

Don't fret, it's probably just the case that the vet will want to chat to you about the results rather than the receptionist relaying a message and perhaps getting it wrong. Our vet does that, regardless of it's just to say yup everythings fine or if there is something to discuss.

3.10 will be here before you know it x

Patrick is home!

I went to the vet and funnily enough there was no vet there, so the vet nurse said she could go though it with me.

Anyways good news, he is just to be treated for UTI, nothing showed on the X-ray and he wasn't giving a GA.

I'm so glad I have a good vet. I have to phone later to speak to the vet if I have any questions. They have prescribed Baytril, I have to arrange a follow up appointment so I shall phone and ask about Septrin, and also pain meds.

Thats fantastic news :) I've been refreshing the page to see if you'd updated

I have no experience in using baytril but would definitely suggest asking about the metacam as it should also help with the symptoms as well as manage any pain he's in

I shall ask if any inflamation showed up on the X-ray would it? I certainly will ask about it when I callback.
