Hey everyone, I know practically the whole forum is sleeping right now but will post anyway.

I’ve just gone up to the pigs cage and Patrick, as normal ran over squeaking for food.. however, his Squeaker sounded husky! I immediately knew that wasn’t right so scooped him up for a visual check, all seems okay. I listened to his breathing and I can’t noticed anything too bad but perhaps sounds slightly croaky, but very slightly.
The past few days I’ve felt like he’s been acting a little bit odd. Occasionally just sitting in a spot looking a bit off.. but then he jumps back into action, rumblestrutting up to the girls and jumping into the hay box to eat. And his appetite hasn’t changed.. Still loving food.
So I thought I was just being paranoid. But now it’s looking like he is perhaps poorly!
I weighed him just now and hasn’t lost any significant weight. And he is still eating and acting bouncy.
I’ve phoned the vets to see if I can speak to my vet over the phone. They are extremely busy and he MIGHT be able to phone me back today, if not it will be tomorrow:(.. So I asked if there was any appointments with a vet today and there isn’t and they have 3 clinics in the town.
I have metacam, baytril and Tribrissen in tablet form. I was going to ask the vet if I should give him any of this but I don’t want to wait until tomorrow incase Patrick is underlying sick!
Any advice?

Here is Patrick standing on my foot waiting for me to chop his veggies up 2 nights ago..

Hi Hannah, if there is something up then it sounds like you have caught him early. I have had one or two piggies that have lost their wheek as they aged. Willow used to do all the motions of wheeking like crazy but only a rasp came out. Hopefully it's something like that rather than a URI. I wouldn't medicate before seeing the vet personally as they might not be the right meds if something is found and may prevent you starting the correct meds promptly. If he seems to deteriorate I would call the vets back and ask them

Thank you!
I just update posted at the same time as you.
I’m glad I spoke to the vet so my mind is at ease. Will keep a close eye on him and see how his squeaker sounds tomorrow morning!

Patrick is only just over a year old so hopefully has many years left of good wheeeking yet :))
