We have an older piggie who has had pea eye for a while that is gradually getting more prominent. What we've noticed more recently is that when she is cleaning herself, it looks the cleaning fluid from the eye is getting stuck and she gets a weepy eye.

The eye itself looks clear and she doesn't seem bothered by it at all. We haven't noticed her eyes closing, or her rubbing it more often and she doesn't show any signs of pain when I check her over. But we will get her to the vets asap if needed.

Is this normal for piggies with pea eye? Has anyone seen this before?

It's a good idea to take her to the vet in case she has a small piece of hay stuck under her eye lid. I think her eye needs to be examined by a vet and possibly medicated. She is a beautiful piggy. I hope all will be well with her 🥰

Thank you 🥰

We took her to the vets and they checked her eye over and said that there's no irritation luckily! They think that because her eye droops it's causing excess eye fluid, and we've got some daily eye drops to give her which will help to manage it. Really glad we got her checked out! 😊
