Hello!
One of my pigs (Mocha) has pea eye (I have diagnosed this myself, as my vet seems to think it's just a malformed eyelid, but I can tell it's pea eye). Usually I don't worry about it, but lately I've been wondering if it is affecting his vision because he is SO skittish. This is nothing new, he always has been, but he's also always had pea eye. Thoughts?

I think you need to find a guinea pig savvy vet as a priority. He can then get the appropriate treatment and rule out any other conditions. Eyes are very delicate and should not be left to self diagnosis, they can also degrade very quickly into some very serious conditions x

I agree, if you think your vet has made an incorrect diagnosis then finding another more experienced vet is the way forward, to check the eye and also piggy's general overall health, any sort of pain or discomfort may make him skittish.

I really love and trust my vet. She's has been seeing my pigs for years as well as my reptiles and cats. I may just bring him back and have her reassess the situation. If she continues to be unsure I will get a second opinion, but being that I live in the US it can be difficult to find truly guinea pig savvy vets.
