Peaches isn't doing well

Just left the vets, they're actually really happy with him. His sutures are clean and dry, no sign of inflammation or upset. She said him not eating is normal/fine considering the medication he's on. I really don't like this idea that it's normal/good but we don't have many other vets in our area to get a second opinion.

His total weight loss at this point is -14g since the surgery, which really isn't much at all considering how little he's eating. We'll continue to syringe feed him, they haven't recommended it but I'd much rather him have something rather than nothing.

Attached a very unimportant but very gorgeous photo of him after the vets 🫶

He's going again on Thursday so they can monitor his weight loss and appetite.

It’s good that they have no concerns about him.

Not eating after surgery and while being on antibiotics may be common but it is a problem if they don’t eat.
However as he isn’t losing weight then he must be eating some hay, either that or you’re getting enough critical care into him to keep him stable. Either way, you are doing right by giving him critical care.

It’s a good idea to give a probiotic to a piggy on antibiotics. Better still give poop soup made from the poops of another healthy piggy

Make sure you keep weighing him yourself first thing every morning so you can continue to monitor.

Honestly, -14g after surgery is pretty good going. If he is pooing and weeing, he is getting it from somewhere. It may be worth asking for an increase in the painkiller dose just in case it isn't fully covering his discomfort but seems himself otherwise.

Keep an eye on the quality of poo as well, (piggy poo chart) that's a good indication of things going awry, albeit slightly delayed.

Ah great, thanks! I hadn't seen the chart before but it's good to have at hand. His poos are healthy as of now and he appears to be peeing fine.

You are doing very well, especially as you’re suffering with a migraine too.
Hope you’re feeling better.
Peaches is in very good hands with you.
Hugs 🤗
Thank you, I'm still suffering the aura but I'm pushing through! Me and him both on pain meds hahaha

Just can't wait to have him fully in the clear and himself again 🙏

Just an update, Peaches is eating again and is gaining weight back.

Today's vet appointment went fine, he had caught one of his stitches but it was only a slight scab, no bleeding or cause for concern. He's back on Tuesday again to potentially get them removed already.

His last day of antibiotics and pain meds just happened so now we have to monitor if he bothers about them without the pain meds, but fingers crossed it's all easy from here.

Thank you to everyone who gave advice and/or support, I know I don't use this forum very often but I'm grateful I have somewhere to come when I really need to 🫶
