She's six years old now and has steadily been getting frailer and frailer. Last night I noticed she was looking skinnier still but she was alert and active. My dad fed her this morning and said she was eating and squeaking. Just been out now and she looks terrible. Not moving at all, cold to touch (although she is an outdoor piggy) and her stomach is almost concave. I don't understand how she has deteriorated so much so quickly.

I've bought her inside but put her in a room with an open window and put tobys pet bed in a box with her. She's not moving and isn't showing any interest in anything around her.

What would everyone do in this situation? Should I try syringing her food or a sweet juice? Or is it better to leave her. :(

Aww I am so sorry to hear about your little piggy peaches :( I dont really have any advice because I have not had to deal with an older piggy like that (yet) but I just want to wish her and you luck. I hope she starts to feel better soon. xx>>>

Awwww, sorry to hear this :(

I've not been in this situation but I would say the best thing you can do is make sure she's comfortable and kept warm. I would say though if she looks really uncomfortable and your worried in any way it would be best to take her to the vets.

Good luck

I am sorry to hear this :(

I agree with Amysmom. Just try and keep her warm, quiet, comfortable and speaking to her gently so she is reassured and knows you are there but seek veterinary advise if she becomes uncomfortable.

(((hugs))) xx

Sadly, the very same thing happened to my 6 year old piggie just 2 weeks ago.
I did what the others have suggested and from the time he didn't seem quite right, til his passing, was just under 24 hours.
At no time did he appear to be suffering or distressed. He just gently passed away, with his little piggie friend by his side. :(
If ever there was a 'nice' way to go, this was probably it.
Thinking of you at this sad time..xx

I am very sorry; it is very upsetting when it happens to you! Just keep Peaches warm and comfy, and don't try to force anything on her if she's not interested.

Sorry to hear this. My first piggie was old when he died. He just spent his last day on his nice hay bed. I stroked him often and he seemed to know I was there. I also put some water in a syringe and just dripped it on his lips but after a while he wasn't interested. All you can do is keep them comfortable.

Personally, if it were me and my pig, I'd take her to the vets to be put to sleep. They can continue to survive for quite a while before they do slip away, and she may be uncomfortable or in pain.

So sorry :( I think i'd also be inclined to take her to the vets. Sending hugs x
