His latest urine sample did not show the blood, proteins and bacteria the one two weeks ago did. So the Bactrim is definitely working. The tip of his penis was still a bit red on one side so we will continue the Bactrim, Tramal and pro-biotics regime for another fortnight. That will be 2 months of syringing meds into this little bloke at 8am, 10am, 4pm, 6pm and midnight. But never mind, it is working and I am ecstatic. When he finishes this course, it will be time for his monthly dental, the poor little sod!

It is wonderful to hear he is getting better. I hope he is not hard to syringe fed or your in for a difficult time!

aw, glad to hear it is working. x
Ta, you can't believe how relieved I am! It seems to have taken such a long time to even get a diagnosis, let alone the right treatment. So am really chuffed we are at last seeing positive results.

He hates being syringed. Now that he has gone through it so often all my training to get him to climb into his cuddle cup to be lifted out of the cage is unravelling. Instead he has become adept at hiding up in the ramp tunnel. And I swear Hazelnut has taken to helping him by sitting in front of the entrance to the tunnel. I'm going to have to resort to parsley bribery as it's getting harder and harder to get him out.

So pleased to hear this! Well done you and PB x x

Thank goodness he is starting to get better. It must be such a relief. I think Esme is having to same problems with being syringed, after being syringe fed, having antibiotics, furosemide and metacam as required. She used to come up to the cage bars for any medicine and would bite at the syringe. Now she puts up a fight and i have to stand her up to get it into her mouth, she does still like her metacams but she isn't as good as she was :/

Yeah I think after all this syringing for a long time they just get fed up with it. I've started parsley bribes to get PB into the cup and then give him some parsley after his syringes to show him there will be good stuff too. It appears though that Hazelnut can smell the parsley in the next room because he starts wheeking as soon as PB is getting some, so I have to give him a few sprigs as well.
