IMG_0901.webp I know it's not likely to work but I am attempting to bond my 3 boys. Buddy is miserable on his own since Alby died. And peanut is too much for fudge in his own. (Peanut is a pest) I tried peanut with Buddy and he wouldn't leave him alone. Also peanut keeps chewing the bars for company. So it's a long shot but I'm hoping it will work as then they can have a 2x9 L shaped cage. And I'm hoping with 3 of them that They each get a rest from Peanut being a pest. Some rumbling so far. But seems to be going ok.

Btw Fudge is about 5/6 Buddy about 2 and peanut about 1 (I think)

Good luck with it.
It is such a nerve wracking time but I will keep my fingers crossed that they can work it out - a 2 x 9 cage sounds amazing!

I know I'm sat on the edge of the couch waiting. Towels at the ready. Lol. Well they are each in a 2x3 at the moment so if I join them it will be a 2x9. The only friction I've seen so far seems to be between fudge and buddy. (Fudge is the Himalayan and
Maybe reminds buddy of Alby as Alby was white.)

Sadly I've had to take Fudge out of the mix. Him and Buddy were not getting along. Lots of teeth chattering and lungeing from Fudge. Also Peanut and Buddy were always at one side and Fudge was at the other. Fudge probably can't be bothered with the others as he getting elderly.

Not even sure if Peanut and Buddy are going to get along. Lots of Rumblestrutting mounting. Squealing and chasing. They rest then start again. I feel like such a failure. I will have 3 single piggies again. I know it's not the best. As they seem miserable alone but just as bad together. I haven't the money or space for another 3 piggies. I don't really want to give them up but have a feeling I might have to. :(

Oh no - so sorry to hear it didn't work out.
Is it possible to keep them side by side so they still have companionship through the bars?

And if you feel you can't keep 3 single boars have you considered contacting a rescue and asking them to help? Maybe you could come up with a solution that allows you to keep at least one or two of your boys?

Be kind to yourself - you are NOT a failure. Just like in real life some people don't get on, and our wonderful, complex piggies are just the same.

Thanks. I have them all back in their 3x2 cages now. I feel so sad. They seem happier alone. The thing is i really don't want to give them up as I promised them they would never be abandoned again. I have them in an L shape so they each have a neighbour through the bars. That's the way I've had them since Alby died. ;(.

I think I've not really gotten over loosing Alby. I loved that piggie so much.

:yikes:I do not understand piggies at all. I've put peanut in the c&c beside buddy after yesterday. They were at each other's throats and buddy pulled a chunk of hair out of peanuts chin.. Now today they are talking nicely to each other through the joining bars. And were even lying sleeping right next to each other. I'm demented!

Boys will be boys :lol!:. Piggies just don't know what's best for them at times.

I know. Lol. And now Peanut has broken his top 2 teeth! :coat: I called vets and was told to monitor him as he's still eating cubed up food and smaller food and hay. If I was concerned he was in pain I was to bring him in for some metacam. Also I've to keep an eye on his bottom teeth and if I feel they're getting too long I've to take him in for them to be buffed down.
It never rains it pours.

Hi, I had 2 piggies originally. Alby (rip) ,and fudge (Himalayan)But they fell out so I got Buddy (ginger) to keep Alby company they got on really well together. I then got Peanut to bond with Fudge it was ok at first till Peanut wouldn't leave Fudge alone and they ended up fighting (Peanut bit Fudges ear in half) so I split their c&c in half. Sadly Alby passed away on 10th August so I moved the cages so they would each have a friend through the bars. I've tried every combination of pairs but they're not for having it. I think Peanuts problem is that he was a lone piggie since he left the pet shop until I took him on so he's not got a lot of confidence with other piggies and becomes too much for them.

I am not wanting to take on any more piggies at the moment as I feel I'm at my limit. But if things change I will look at adopting a baby boar to bond with Buddy. (Buddy was a baby when he bonded with Alby) so I think that might be best. But right now I am giving each of them lots of attention, forage and toys to keep them busy.

I've decided to try again with Peanut and Buddy. They've been in the cage together since I scrubbed it out at 11am this morning. They had been living beside each other in a c&c since they were split up before. Peanut seemed to be the problem last time. And wanted away from Buddy every chance he got. This time is going a bit better. :tu: Buddy is lying down sleeping with his eyes shut! And peanut is sitting next to him. It's so cute. Their cage is a Tip though! With all the running and chasing about. Lol. This time I just put them into the cleaned cage to bond. As I seemed to get problems when moving them from bonding pen to cage last time.

I can't believe Buddy's sleeping with his eyes shut. He NEVER does that. Wee soul.

Awww beautiful piggies, all three of them. Fingers crossed for Peanut and Buddy getting along.

IMG_1675.webp Fudge enjoying his maze a log challenge IMG_1676.webp The boys enjoying theirs IMG_1677.webp Well it's all going good so far. Buddy (ginger one) is still occasionally chattering at Peanut but Peanut just makes the little "meep meep brrp" noises at Buddy. Then if Buddy still chatters peanut throws his head up and Buddy runs away. Lol. I just think Buddy is a Drama queen. Lol.

Oh I'm so pleased to read your last post @Julie M. I was holding my breath to see what the outcome was. :yahoo:
Thanks. So was I. Lol. Buddy is still occasionally being a pest and rumblestrutting at Peanut. But Peanut stands his ground and Buddy backs off. Lol. Then Peanut usually popcorns. Lol (strange piggies) I'm so glad as they will be able to have a better standard of life now. Sharing a 2x6 c&c instead of a 3x2 each.

Do U think I will be safe to clean the cage tomorrow? As I was holding off due to them bonding. But that's 5 days now and I feel they smell. Lol.

I think that's fine, but if you can - leave something they have already scented in the cage otherwise they will stink you out re-scenting everything!

:vom: Thanks. Yep their cage is pretty stinky right now. Lol.

What lovwly lovely guinea pigs you have there. I do hope the bond continues to go well. Fudge is adorable. He can always come and live in hampshire and have the snip and bond with my golden lovelies. Ok I know that you would miss him too much.

:xd: Fudge is an elderly Gent now. So I am sure he would love your lovely girls. (I think he's possibly 6 or older, gumtree unwanted kids pet)
