I do hope people don't mind me putting this on here, Peanut was a beautiful Syrian hamster and whilst not a Guinea he was one of the family and often shared play time with them (not together but in the living room at the same time). He adored Thelma and we used to have to stop him from trying to climb onto her! So in my mind he was part of the gang...I hope thats OK?

I adopted Peanut when his owner no longer wanted him, he was 18 months then but a strapping chap with a lot of character and cheek! He would often get loose and create havoc. He totally changed my view on hamsters and I found this little furry to be the most loving, sweet, beautiful and fun animal. He would come when called, sit up and watch telly with us on the sofa and curl up and fall asleep on our laps.

He was 2.5 years old which I understand is a good age for hammys. He sadly and suddenly started to lose a lot of weight and despite some treatment he became very weak finally we helped him over the bridge yesterday.

We fell in love with him so quickly and its so hard losing him. You will be very missed Peanut you were a legend among hamsters and we will always be with you, sleep well my beauty xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

of course you can share on here, we love hammies too.

I'm sorry you lost your guy, but at least he lived his final months in a loving home where he was wanted.

Rip Peanut, have fun at the bridge xx

RIP little Peanut. Sorry for your loss. It doesnt matter if they are tiny or huge they still manage to wriggle their ways into our heart...x

Thank you so much everyone, I am glad you don't mind me sharing Peanut with you all. He was such a lovely little furry and I know he would love all the attention, he just loved people x)

You are all so lovely and its makes it much more special to be able to share him with like minded people xx

So sorry for the loss of your little boy

RIP Peanut

Hammysters may be small, but they are feisty and give you a lot of loving like guineas. They also leave hammy-shaped holes in your heart when they leave you, so don't think you can't remember them or share their story with others.

And I believe that just like guineas, hammysters will be met as they cross the Bridge by others of their kind who have passed before, so your Peanut won't be alone.

Hold onto your precious memories

x

So sorry to hear you have lost Peanut. Have fun in that giant wheel at Rainbow Bridge.....

So many lovely comments. Yes they do leave big holes for such little furries don't they? They have such amazing attitude and intelligence, they were a big, big surprise to me....and they give so much love back!

I love that he will be meeting his kind over the bridge, I was'nt sure really as they are solitary creatures here but maybe they change...he may even join the guinea bridge as he was always so fascinated by them (in a nice way...I don't think he ever thought he should attack them!). I am honoured to have met him and hope one day my experience with him will mean I adopt another needing a home...one day. Sadly having lost three lovely furries (2 guineas and now Peanut) in short succession I am too sad to replace any of them at the moment but one day I will.

I am sorry for your loss. Love doesn't depend on the species or the length of time, just on the closeness of your bond.

RIP Peanut

Rest in peace little Peanut, big hugs! I sobbed when I lost my little Reginald (hammy) it makes no difference what type of pet they were, they are still sadly missed!
