Hello, we have just given a home to a female guinea pig and 2 male guinea pigs, they are lovely, anyway when we got them the female was on her own and the 2 males were together and still remains like that now as if we can help it not to have babies would rather increase numbers by giving a home to unwanted piggies and bunnies than breeding. Well we have had them just over 2 weeks and the female is... getting very pear shaped at the back, so googled it as I suspected that she is pregnant, she is eating very well and drinking loads as it says they would, but her tummy is soft and I can't feel any movement. My question is could she still be pregnant and not that far gone to feel the babies or is she just on the porky side? I have read about cysts on the ovaries as well but it says that they don't eat and their fur falls out which she certain not doing. just would like to know what others think thank you x

Hi Welcome to the forum.

Have the Male's and Female's been kept together at any point?

Please take her to the vet to get her checked over a) for pregnancy and b) for ovarian cysts.

I have no experience with pregnancy but would recomend a vet visit.

Thank you will do to get her checked out, she very lively and loves running around the run so don't think there is a lot wrong with her. As for being with the males that I m not sure about as the person who asked me to take them rescused them and he couldn't keep them himself and me being a softy took all 3 on there is a chance they could have been together. I will what the vet says.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

I would advise you to take all 3 for a check up as they are new to you.

If you weigh them weekly it will give you an early warning if there are any illnesses brewing - weightloss is often the first sign. It will also track the female's progress if she is expecting.

If the vet confirms pregnancy please post in the Pregnancy & Labour section so the more experienced members can spot it quickly and answer any queries you may have. Although we don't support intentional breeding, we try to offer all the help we can to members finding themselves with a surprise litter on the way.

Also, how old is she exactly? :) That may be usefull to us, if you dont know exactly, do you know an estimate? Maybe you could post a picture of her shape.

The man said he thought they were about a year old, I try will and post a photo on here for you to see her shape.
