If you’ve read my previous thread, you’ll know that the vet has told us to give Pearl a happy life. She has many health issues and the vet believes she has cancer.

Pearl has started itching a lot. She is making herself bleed, and her skin is flakey. This is where she has hair loss. She got the hair loss before she started itching I believe.

She also has a red raw spot above her back foot. I’ll send a picture of that when I can.

Mites or fungal possibly. Where is that located on her?

Please get her to the vets. Needs looking at in the context of her other health issues. Poor girlie. Hugs x

Yep I would advise a vet visit too. Poor girlie must be so uncomfortable! Hope she soon feels better and less itchy.:hug: Here's a hug for you and one for Pearl as you both need them!

I agree with the others, definitely a vets visit to get to the bottom of it.

It could be mites given her lowered immune system but only your vet would be able to confirm

i agree, with previous posters,it is best to get a diagnosis from a vet.i hope you are able to get a firm treatment plan:).

We aren’t taking her to the vet. Please read the previous thread I linked to before. It will explain. She has various health problems and it could kill her if we tried to cure them all. It would also cost over $500. We already treated her for mites and fungal infections but it did not work. She is senior at almost 5yrs.

I just want to know if there’s anything we could do to make her more comfortable. I’ve put baby oil on her dry skin. I don’t know if this is correct, but I read it somewhere, and I’m not getting any suggestions on this thread so far.

Maybe you're not getting any suggestions because none of us have experienced what Pearl is going through at the mo. We are only trying to help you and Pearl. The obvious one for hair loss is mites and fungal which is why it has been suggested.

@Pearl and Zip Si she on Metacam or anything like that? I know it have anti-inflammatory in it as well as pain relief so that may help with the itching.

I think skinny pig owners use coconut oil on their skin.

And many years ago when one of my boys was having a hard time with mites, I used Aloe Vera from Gorgeous Guineas on him. He was so itchy that he wouldn't let himself heal.

I commented on the hair loss thread previously and fully understand that this could be a result of her health conditions. However, as I understand it the scratching and bleeding is new and therefore not necessarily linked to the hair loss. It is common for mites to crop up with a piggy suffering health problems due to their lowered immune system so just because she has been treated once does not mean she won't be affected again.

My comment was based solely on the fact she is scratching to the point of making herself bleed and looking for options to keep her more comfortable. If you are able to buy xeno online and work out her correct dosage then that is an option.

Unfortunately what you are looking for cannot be supported by the forum as we are not vets and our first stance will always be to tell someone to go to the vets for new symptoms. We cannot, and will not, provide online diagnosis

As jaycey points out it may be that pain relief is needed. If she does have cancer she may be in discomfort (I had a hamster once literally bite it's abdomen open as a result of cancer) but as pain relief is prescription only you won't be able to get any without a vets visit
