Eriathwen
Senior Guinea Pig
My beautiful girl with the stars in her eyes. Named after the gorgeous opaque covering over her pink eyes, while her appearance changed quite dramatically over the years as she grew bigger, she was lovely in every way.
Initially I had seen she was not available for adoption but her sister was, I later saw the pair of them looking for a home. While their listing said that she wasn't a lethal white, it was difficult to tell in pictures (first picture is one provided by the rescue). Once home however it was clear she was a beautiful mismarked himilayan type piggy with lilac points that didn't stay where they were meant to, and had patches of lilac so pale it blended into her white areas. With tiny eyes and pointy nose, she was perfect to me.
I applied to adopt both her and her sister, and was approved. The girls have been an absolute delight over the last 4 years, Pearl was initially extremely skittish, but very quickly became incredibly confident and learned our routine, even more so when she met the other piggies. Being blind never held her back, once she had mapped out her area. Never a days bad health apart from needing spaying for ovarian cysts which she recovered from so quickly she was back with her friends within a day or so.
Over time, her little eyes grew, massive, bulgy, but not causing her any issues, she was still beautiful to me, and the eyes that gave her her name looked like little galaxies.
She was the absolute queen of naps, placid, funny, always everyone's friend but had an especially close bond with her sister Cherry.
There was also a small mischievous streak, taking part in the great piggy shawshank redemption escape, leading to the demise of my cardboard carriers where her, Cherry, Panda and Pumpkin chewed holes large enough through the sides to mostly swap places
imagine my suprise opening the carrier to see only one of the piggies I had actually put in there, and 2 more that I definitely put in a different one!
Pearl.. I hope you're having the best nap now, wherever you are.
