Hello everyone, I haven't posted in this forum in a while but I am in need of some help and advice!

I am not sure how many of you remember, but last year my Pebbles was bleeding from her down below area, we took her to the vet and she was spayed last July as she was found to have a uterine mass and ovarian cysts.

Since then she has been fine, today however, just over 1 year after her operation I found she was bleeding a small amount again. I noticed this when I picked her up and found some blood in the space where she was sitting and a little bit was coming out of her lady area.

This can't be to do with her reproductive system again as she is spayed, so I'm very confused as to what it could be! She is not displaying any signs of pain or discomfort and is running around, eating, drinking, wheeking etc as normal!

Of course we will be consulting our vet, but as they're currently closed I was wondering if anyone had any advice or an idea on what it may be?

It could simply be a UTI but the vet should also be able to check for stones or Interstitial cystitis. Do you have any urine test sticks?

beginnings of a uti? or a food coloured wee to make you panic? hope it's nothing serious. x

It would be good if you had her checked. We are currently seeing an influx of guinea pigs with UTI (urinary tract infection) due to the unseasonable cold spell we have here in Britain at the moment. UTI often presents with bleeding, so I hope that it is just that.

I was always lead to believe that a bladder issue such as a UTI wouldn't cause them to produce fresh blood unless it was a bladder stone, which she doesn't have any symptoms for.

Unfortunately I don't have any test sticks, I should buy some really! Pebbles had X-rays and an ultrasound of her bladder at the vets last year before her mass and cysts were found and everything came up normal but things could of deteriorated since then.

I would like to think that it was just coloured urine but I'm pretty sure it was blood, I will soon find out if it happens again tomorrow!

Is it sheer blood or bloody urine? In the first case, it is more worrying, but you need to see a vet in either case nevertheless.

It seemed to be pure blood, like last time. I have some photos which I took earlier if that would be any help? We will be making a vet appointment for her.

Ouch! I hope that it is nothing more sinister. However, without a vet check, we can only speculate. :(

All the best! I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you!

maisie produced fresh blood with her cystitis/uti so it could be. some was pure blood but most was pinky urine diluted. fingers crossed the vets can shed some light on what is going on x

Have you had her out on the grass today? I had one that always produced what appeared to be bloody urine after being out on grass :( x

Thank you @biscandmatt , I will bare that in mind! I thought it would be unusual for them to pass fresh blood with a UTI but obviously not!

And yes @Poppy'sMum .. My piggies have been free ranging for a few hours today as I've been cleaning them and the rabbits out. She's never left this colour urine before though!

Mmmmm well it could be :( The only way of checking is using a dipstick to test her urine or getting it done at the vets. Do you have a sterile syringe handy? Pop her in a clean box in the morning & see if you can suck a bit up in one & take that with you when you go to the vets x
