Recently I bought my piggies some new pellets because they looked really interesting to try (they get 4 different pellet brands already due to being fussy). Some of the ingredients I'm not too sure about so wondered if anyone on here could help. I've tried looking them all up but can never find anything about them that isn't going technical, all I want is a yes or no for:

chicory (think I've read this as a yes somewhere but not too sure)
herbs (can't quite remember which ones though)
and lastly brewers yeast.

never seen brewers yeast in pellets!

Chicory is fine for piggies - it is however big in calcium

Depends on the herb.....

Hope that helps a little, there are lots of reviews on pellets in the food section, may take a bit of searching through though.....

I personally wouldn't worry about brewers yeast. I actually feed it to my horse as a supplement and it's full of B vitamins and improves skin and coat condition. It also supports digestive efficiency. I'd be happy feeding pellets with it in.

It's just off the top of my head but I think I remember Peter Gurney writing about the use of Brewers Yeast.

One of my pigs many years ago was suffering with weight loss (this was back when I didn't have access to a good vet and had to rely on Peter Gurney books) and I gave him Brewers Yeast. I think it was to motivate him to eat more of his "special" poops.

Please someone post if I'm completely wrong, or if you have more information. It's a very dusty, faint memory so I'm probably way off!
