Could anybody with a mixed age herd tell me how you calculate your pellet allowance please. We did have 5 x almost 2yr old piggies and have recently added 2 babies, now approx 3.5 months old. We give their pellets am & pm in 3 bowls, one each cage floor. For the 5 they were on a total of 140g per day, which kept their weight stable, I have increased this to a total of 180g per day since adding 2 babies. Babies are putting on weight. They also have lots of hay and fresh Veg 2 x day. Pellet bowls are usually, but not always empty between feeds. Do you think this is enough?
They get 50% science selective and 25% Harringtons and Burgess .
Thanks.

:D My herd ranges from 1 to 6 years in ages, but they are kept in pairs. I give them Harrington's too. I use large but shallow ceramic bowls and give just enough to cover the bottom of the bowls, plus a little bit more. I think Harrington's recommends giving 25 -30 grams per pig. Also, at the moment, I'm giving a few Meadow Menu pellets on top of the Harri's. Basically, if they are emptying their bowls, then you are giving enough. I find if they leave any in the bowls, they just eat the fresh pellets and the same pellets stay in the bowl. So I throw those away.
