Hi everyone!

My two girls are just over 3 months old (15 weeks we think). They have just finished a bag of Oxbow pellets for young guinea pigs, which have a higher amount of alfalfa in than the normal pellets. It says that this kind is suitable up to the age of 6 months. I was just wondering if it would be okay now to put them on regular pellets (I've used Harringtons and Burgess in the past) rather than buying a second bag of this food which they may not finish before they hit that age? I would assume it would be fine as they get plenty of vit C and calcium from veggies and always unlimited hay!

They're not my first piggies but have always adopted pigs from a slightly older age so this is new to me!

Thanks :)

Evening! 1 of my pigs was put on regular pellets at about 4 or 5 months old and when the second came along I didn't want a bowl of 2 different foods in the same cage. I knew they'd swap and mix it up so there was no point. My second pig went onto regular pellets at about 2 months old. Both are very healthy piggies and have never had any problems regarding diet. Like you say, they get plenty of vitamin C and calcium in their vegetables anyway so you don't need to worry :tu:

Thank you :) I introduced a few of the new pellets last night and they practically inhaled them! So I'm sure all is okay :)

They will be fine to go on normal pellets as long as they are getting a good well balanced diet. I never buy pellets specific for young pigs if we have a baby here, I just make sure they have unlimited access to good quality pellets until they are grown.
